the mystery is because he didn't warn anyone before dropping off. he's done it before, i think it has something to do with the nature of his job but not entirely sure. so anyway, i'm not trying to be cagey, i really just don't know. hopefully he decides to come back, if he doesn't then the hosting money runs out at some point and we all need to find a new hobby.

Is this the kind of thing where someone else could buy it? Or would someone have to buy the domain, re set up the forum, and just HOPE everyone comes back to a blank slate? Years ago someone took over a forum I was on when the owner vanished, but I'm 99% sure they guessed the logins of the owner and just took over.

If he just disappears forever then you’d have to wait for the domain to expire and then snipe it/rebuild from scratch. If he contacted me and offered to hand it off I’d accept it and would take on the bills, as I assume some others would as well if he asked them, but we are Internet acquaintances so i am not able to just pop over to his place to chat about it or anything. It happens a lot that people hit their goal weight, have a freezer full of years of meds, and just move on

It cost very little to host a forum. And I'm willing to bet this forum is profitable.

I used to run an e-cigarette and a jobs forum many years ago when everything was kind of new. I charged vendors and companies a fee per month to advertise on there. Not saying whoever runs this site is or isn't doing the same thing. But like the old saying goes ass, grass or gas. No one rides for free.
You're really saying that you've never done anything truly for free and, as a result, you cannot imagine anyone else would ever do so. Many people in the GLP-1 community devote either money or great amounts of time to educating others.
Except there's no ads here. I've been steered away from more vendors than veered towards based on feedback from fellow posters, not advertisers... That's what Facebook is for 🤷🏻
