I noticed since I started Reta I'm freezing cold all the time. Granted, I'm from Southern California so my cold tolerance is pretty low anyway but I went from always overheating in my sleep to needing long sleeves and socks on. When I asked my friends who have been on GLPs longer, they noticed they get colder easier too since starting. Can anyone on it longer term chime in? Is this common and will it die down a little bit? Or am I destined to wear jackets in 70*F weather forever.

I have found it went away after about a month but it came back again when I upped my dose. Not as bad as when I first started though.

Same with skin sensitivity as well. I was pleased when this calmed down for me.

You losing fat which is a kind of body insulation. I knew that feeling very well, when was on keto and losing weight fast. Now on reta and that love/hate feeling is slightly coming back. On the one hand it is a kind of discomfort, but on the other I know that "insulation" is shrinking. Also a calories deficit escalets that feeling. Food is energy which warms up your body. Less calorie, less energy - less heat in the body.

This makes sense but I'm diligent about my calories and my protein intake so it's not food based. I'll just assume it's the weight loss. Thank you for the input

I’ve always enjoyed the cold, but this winter I had cold sensitivity which I didn’t mind, but it was pronounced. It faded in a few weeks.

My comfortable baseline has shifted, which I appreciate living in the dirty south. This time last year this time I’d have turned the house down to 68° for bed, now it stays at 72° and I’m comfortable.

Never had that one, but I despise cold weather. I've lived in this humidity /heat factory forever. I rarely get hot, and rarely sweat.

I've been researching it for 9 months. I went from being a heat factory, impervious to the cold, to wearing a fleece in the house when it's 70F. I'm now a cold wimp. 😭
Such a wimp! Throwing on a sweater at 5pm at a sunny bbq because I caught a chill.

I'm going on 5 months freezing all the time. It was a hard winter. My electric blanket is the only thing that saved me. I'd go to bed an hour early just to feel its warm embrace.

No. No it doesn't. Saves money on A/C in summer, but offset by turning up the heat in winter.
Oh this is a fair point. I don't have a/c so this might be a game changer for summer nights.

exact same on the thermostat. Used to sleep with it at 68, now I'm at 71.

I use DIY microwavable flax heat packs made out of new pairs of long cotton socks.

Fill with Flax seeds which contain oil so the heat packs retain a "moist" heat. Best to securely sew the ends, but you can tie as well.

Microwave in 30 seconds increments to avoid scorching and to find the ideal temp. These can be reused for weeks.

Make three or four of these to drape them on yourself. This really works!

It's a well documented side effect of Reta..that I have cried about in other posts. Now I am hoping it will last through summer here!

I got thinish and am now constantly cold. BUT I was at a barbecue the other day, it was around ninety degrees because Texas, and we were all sweating; but here and there a breeze would pick up for a bit, and the SECOND it did, I stopped sweating, dried completely off in only a few minutes, and was no longer even hot. It used to be that if I started sweating at ALL, I'd KEEP sweating for awhile after I was no longer actively hot. Not now.

I felt this way for about 6 weeks. It was palpable then.

Last month or so, I done even thing about it anymore.

Went away and I didn’t notice.

Much much better problem to have than being obese and constantly pouring out sweat?
You just get used to it after a while and it becomes the new normal.

I am frozen all year round.
I have my Electric Blanket on my bed turned on every single night of the year. I have issues, I know.
But, oddly enough, after 6 months of GLP-1s I have NOT had to wear a coat outside in the winter- and yes, I live in the snowbelt north. But, when I come in the house-I have heated wraps and blankets on me year round. (Might be psychological 🤣 )

It's odd, since bumping up to 7mg Friday I felt colder in the watering hole and even home. My wife mentioned it this afternoon, she was cold. House is at 77*, but it's been at that temp for years. Been on this stuff 5 months, Interesting.

I used to be cold all the time, then about three years ago a switch flipped and I ran hot instead and was miserable...a month on 1mg of reta added to my tirz and I remember what it's like to feel cold in an air conditioned building again 😂

On GLP-1 for 3 years. Hasn't gotten any better for me. But I'll take it in exchange for the weight loss and other benefits.

To be honest, the cold never goes away, especially if you're doing intermittent fasting. So either like for 16 hours, you don't eat anything, or especially if you do one meal a day, then the cold gets pretty brutal. And I remember even without reta and even with eating a lot more calories than I usually do now, I would still get cold. And I think it's just because I fast daily. I only eat once a day. So everyday is a 24 hour fast. and right now at such a low body fat percentage, theres no barely any fat to provide insulation. so yes youre destined to wear sweaters and jackets in 70 degrees lol

Other’s mentioned it but your body’s thermogenesis decreases with weight loss. You can see the article that tracked people on the biggest loser show. I found my coldness decreased after being stable at a lower weight and increasing my calories to maintenance with some muscle mass increase.

2 years in, cold as fudge, all the time. Since this is my worse side effect of my GLP use, I'm good.

The last time I lost a lot of weight in 2012 to 2014, and went from 120kg or so to 65kg, I was colder and my body temp dropped a lot, by a degree at least so that instead of 36.9 degrees I was pretty consistently at around 35.something or very low 36 degrees. My body was obviously trying very hard not to burn any calories.
Weirdly body temperature never dropped much this time from 145 kg to 65kg. No idea why really. I feel the cold more, but mostly it is an improvement, being much more comfortable in warmer weather, and I can always put on an extra jumper when it is cold. And not sweating all the time is nice.
