Thank you. Your words helped. I appreciate them. Please do not delete... perhaps us rehashing the concept of ratio (of loss, between fat and lean mass) is helpful to others? I hope the yucky stuff in your life sorts out soon for ya. Be well too. I wish you all the good there is.

You said "we are basically agreeing here, with the one exception that muscle mass is indeed lost, along with fat" The studies I posted LITERALLY say that we lose in a RATIO (meaning both are lost). As did my explanations of the studies. That leaves only one thing: you did not read either my...

tl;dr: it is possible that the concept of "ratio" (lean:total mass lost, and fat:total mass lost) is throwing you off. If so, that would absolutely skew the study "conclusions" for you. ----- You may be conflating what my posts say, with something different. In fact, the studies I posted...

I am not sure you read my posted studies carefully? The study you posted is about Sema, by the way. My posts above show that Tirz is even better than Sema for losing more fat mass than lean mass. But *both* glp-1's are good. The study you posted did not disprove that.... but you think it does...

you are so welcome interesting about myostatin and atrogin-1 do you by any chance have any source links (PubMed etc)?

did you read the studies I posted above? you contradict the studies. the body does indeed "discriminate" and with Tirz especially, it will preferentially burn FAT. it will even burn fat at a faster rate than muscle, which improves body composition ratios! you are correct about exercising - it...

    nature's tirz? (not berberine!)

I wish I could answer that for you! I am new to yacon too. I would love to hear feedback if anyone tries it. I might try it closer to the holidays!

    nature's tirz? (not berberine!)

About Yacon itself: (please note I did not write this so I cannot vouch for the numbers!) "The study used 0.14g of FOS per kg of body weight. Yacon syrup contains between 45-50 percent FOS. It takes about a teaspoon per every 30 pounds of body weight to hit the 0.14g per kg used in the study...

(This is a sample chart where Wegovy is (inexactly) plotted against this study.) "The Wegovy study went on for two years. The Yacon syrup study lasted for ~17 weeks. The lines above represent the body weight percentage change over time. The absolute amount of weight loss was 15 kg (33 pounds)...

    nature's tirz? (not berberine!)

Here is more info: "Yacon syrup contains about 41 percent fructooligosaccharides (FOS), according to the authors. FOS are sugars found naturally in many types of plants but never in concentrations as high as in yacon roots. FOS are able to resist the hydrolysis of enzymes in the upper part of...

yes. the lower (well-tolerated) dose may be equivalent to 5 teaspoons. let me check. if anyone tries this, please go slow

    nature's tirz? (not berberine!)

Have not tried it, and it is available (even organic) on Amazon. I could see a use case in this scenario: someone who needs to lose more weight but has hit max dose of glp-1's already. I wonder if this might tide them over (along with other peptides and berberine) as they try to regain...

    nature's tirz? (not berberine!)

Yacon syrup (a tuber). In the following study, women lost an average of 33 pounds... in 120 days! That rivals (or beats!) Tirz. The mechanism of action is suspected to be in modulating glp-1, glucagon (GIP), and ghrelin. The lower dose of Yacon syrup (which was tolerated well, and resulted in a...

    Adiponectin

Interesting question! I am not sure if there is a way to do that? I have not dug deep enough. My initial thought is that there are still so many questions about adiponectin. One of them being: why aren't the increased adiponectin levels - seen in people with more adipose tissue - PROTECTIVE...

    allulose sweetener

If you must use a sweetener, consider trying allulose (I like Anthony's brand the best). Allulose behaves similar to GLP-1 agonists (like Tirz peptide)... actually it causes GLP-1 release! "Here we show that oral administration of the non-calorie sweetener, rare sugar D-allulose (D-psicose)...

    Adiponectin

Here is a summary on adiponectin that I found elsewhere. I forgot to cite this list, so I do not know where I got it (research anything that looks interesting!) ADIPONECTIN: *decreased gluconeogenesis (glucose creation, in liver) *increased glucose uptake...

    Adiponectin

SURPASS-2 study showed: "increases in total adiponectin (16-23% vs -.2%) with tirzepatide vs placebo" Would you like to know more about adiponectin? I sure did. Especially with all the comments like "of course you loose weight if you eat less calories!" and "it just makes you eat less". I could...

In this study on Semaglutide: "total LEAN body mass decreased from baseline (-9.7%); however, the proportion relative to total body mass increased by 3.0%-points. An increasing improvement in LEAN body mass:FAT mass ratio was seen with semaglutide with increasing weight loss from baseline to...

Here is a study on a dual GIP/GLP-1 agonist, simialr to Tirz (but it is not Tirz!). This peptide did not cause LEAN body mass loss at the 28 day mark: "a GIP/GLP-1- peptide, with characteristics of exendin-4, known for enhanced metabolic stability and reduced clearance with respect to (D-Ala2)...

In tbis study, something stood out to me: "observed reductions in LEAN body mass are mainly attributed to body water reduction" (this is important with DEXA scans… dehydration will impact greatly!) STUDY LINK: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10092154/

Semaglutide is similar, although Tirz may show advantages over Sema, as the quality of the weight loss with semaglutide 2.4 mg (highest dose) is good, but not as good as Tirz. In STEP 1, DEXA scan data reported that there was mean loss of –8.36 kg of total body FAT mass and –5.26 kg of total...

The Eli Lily SURMONT-1 trial with Tirzepatide, looked at visceral FAT loss vs. LEAN mass loss (want to preserve the latter as much as possible) SUMMARY: Fat-to-lean mass ratio improved more with tirzepatide than placebo (this is good!) RESULTS: “… 160 patients had their body composition...

BACKGROUND INFO: the aim of weight management should be normalization of body *composition*, not just reduction of weight. It matters WHAT we lose. It is important to reduce excess abnormal FAT mass, without adversely affecting muscle and bone ("LEAN mass").

Hi friends. I am happy to share the results of a deep dive I did on the topic of LEAN body mass (versus TOTAL body mass, which includes lean, fat, and a small amount of "other"). I was concerned about this topic after listening to a podcast with Dr Attia, where he showed data that his patients...
