Are vendor shipping times to the US reasonably consistent, or is there a lot of variation from the same vendor? From what I've seen it sounds like ASC takes about 2 weeks +/- 4 days and QSC takes about a month +/- 1 week. Are those timeframes correct and something I can reasonably count on?

I'm going to be away from home for a few weeks and would like to make sure an order would arrive when I'm here to pick it up.

It doesn't really work like that with any consistency. This is one area where domestic suppliers serve a purpose. I'd get a small supply domestically and hold off on CN until you got back.

I had an order from ASC take about two weeks, SRY was over three weeks. They typically consolidate orders and import in large shipment to a US location, then add your address info and send on to you using UPS/FedEx or USPS. Unless you request expedited shipping, then your order is sent directly to you but some won't reship if it gets hung up in customs. When you get a tracking number it normally doesn't move until it is through customs but sometimes they will send the China tracking number and you can track it all of the way through (using parcelapp.com or a similar tracking site).

Ah, that would lead to variable transit times.
