I just bought some BAC water on Amazon. I found it through the Amazon storefront of a USA based company that’s been in business since the early 80’s. Given that they’re a real company, US based, and that they have a history, I’m a little more inclined to trust them than I would be if it was some fly-by-night with a name with too many consonants.

Still, I have to wonder what I’m actually getting. I can check the pH but that doesn’t tell me much. Is there anything I can do to find out what’s actually in there? I got a two pack and I’d be willing to sacrifice one on a test. I’m hoping there’s an answer aside from “Go spend $300 on a lab analysis” but I suspect that might be the only way.

Stop buying "BAC" on Amazon. Problem staying solved.

Or spend a few hundred bucks having a vial tested, and if it turns out OK cross your fingers that you maybe get the same thing when you re-order.

Seems less expensive just to buy the name brand stuff to me.

It took a lot of searching but I did find some name brand stuff in stock. I’ve got one on the way. Hopefully that supplier works out, and if I get my single vial I’ll order a six year supply (I’m targeting semas generic date for my hoard). I bought this Amazon stuff to have as a backup, and possibly to let people know about an easy place to get BAC - if I can convince myself it’s kosher.

$300 for a test might be worth it if I could test and then stock up. But if my name brand source works out I won’t need to spend the $. I could, just as a service to the community, but I’m not flush enough to be that altruistic. Maybe I can bribe a broke grad student to let me into their lab so I can mess around with their stuff. I actually know a few MDs & PhDs who run labs. Maybe I can take one out for a succulent Chinese lunch and brown nose my way into access to some cool equipment (and help using it).

I have a hoarde of it...but it is indeed getting scarcer. Sources are actually enforcing things. End game: anyone who doesn't have name brand already will need Chinese BAC going forward.
