I Just Joined!
Hi everyone! I am about a year and a half into my GLP-1 journey.
One of the best things for me since I started these medications is how the food noise has quieted! I didn’t realize how loud it was before. I texted my friends as said, “Is this just what it’s ALWAYS like for you guys???”
I have some chronic illnesses that I am struggling with, and my weight began to be an impediment and was making it more difficult for me to progress with PT etc. So, I started with semaglutide, after consulting with my doctor, compounded and obtained from a med spa near me. I really didn’t know much about compounding pharmacies or anything, just that my doctor had suggested it as a cheaper option vs the prescription. Semaglutide worked GREAT for me for awhile. I lost about 60lbs in maybe a year-ish. Then I had a flare up with my chronic illness and I wasn’t able to be as active. Once I resumed being a bit more active, the semaglutide just didn’t seem to be working for me anymore. So, I switched to Tirzepatide just recently, starting at a low dose, but I’m already losing a little bit of weight again.
The biggest obstacle of course is cost. I’m learning more about all my options. I’m sort of navigating this on my own, since while my doctor supports me taking a GLP medication, they aren’t the ones prescribing it or anything. I guess I’m sort of making it up as I go along!
My hope is to lose about 20 more lbs, since taking more weight off my joints will help me a lot. Then I just want to be able to maintain that weight. I just want to be healthy, and to keep the food noise quiet. It’s so nice not having it shouting at me all the time!
