Work both ends of the cap slightly before you tear off !

Thank you for info.. also is there a trick to getting cap off with out damaging metal sea! I tore off 1/2

Work the cap up gently from a few different angles to pre-stress the points that hold the cap on then choose a side and push it up hard. This seems to work for me.
