Hello all! I am jcollins1968 on Reddit. Mostly a lurker on the peptide forums there.

I have a similar experience to many of you here. I was prescribed Mounjouro and took it for two months. I felt like my whole life has changed. Then the insurance stopped covering it and the pharmacist wouldn't even talk to me about me paying directly for it. My doctor then prescribed Semaglutide from a compounding pharmacy but the side effects were much worse for me. So I thought "If a compounding pharmacy can get it then maybe I can too." This started me down a path that I have been very happy with. To be honest I find it kind of fun figuring this whole system out and also it's improving my health.

Thanks for setting this forum up!

I am surprised your pharmacy would not talk to you about paying out of pocket. I would think theyd be happy to just be receiving payment! So odd.
I have also lived this rabbit hole and it keeps leading to new ones. Im a bit concerned ill try to DIY something I definitely should not be!
I actually have a sema in my freezer but am scared of the sides. I keep putting off trying it while titrating the tz up.

They were saying they wouldn't fill it because of the shortage and the prescription being for off-label use. The weird thing is that when you look outside of brand name, there is no shortage in people manufacturing Tirzapatide. Add robust testing to this availability and I'm not sure why there isn't plenty of supply for the premium prices pharma is able to charge. I'm interested to know if anyone here knows why the company that would profit most from having it available would not have supply.

Some pharmacies and pharmacists are stuck in lock-step obedience to their big pharma masters and it's unfortunate.

My first box of Mounjaro was from CVS. Went for a refill and they were out. Changed to Walmart. Got 2 boxes from them. Went for a refill and they said I needed a PA. Was denied. They wouldn’t fill it without a type2 diagnosis. I have been doing Tirzepatide since. I am helping a family member get set up with Tirzepatide also

Seems like it worked out. I much prefer reconstituting myself now. I dont think Id want to go back to MJ. I enjoy controlling my own dosing as well as sourcing. I strongly dislike wondering what surprise Ill get at the pharmacy- out of stock, just wont fill it, or they have my rx but now my credit card wont pay because the CC co. thinks someone must have stolen it because Ive never spent 1k at CVS before 😆

I never knew that could happen before now. I knew pharmacists did have some discretion over what they filled, even for non- medical reasons, but refusing paying customers over a legitimate script that I thought was relatively non-contentious (compared to say birth control type medications, for example) has been unheard of to me. Learn something new all the time.

The issue isn’t the peptide. It’s the delivery system (pens) causing the shortage. That’s why LLY is considering sending out vials as well to help keep up with demand
