Hi!
I’m here to learn and get fit once and for all! I’m a 43(F) and military veteran, who has been very fit in the past (but has also struggled with my weight on and off most my life, I have to work hard at it). Life happened, and the meds I need to be on have caused weight gain and also struggles to lose weight when I try. I tried GLP-1 very briefly last year, did name brand Z for a month then compound T and S for the last month for cost (made me too nauseous) for the next about 4 months. I didn’t have outstanding results, lost about 10 pounds, but also think I may not have been able to get to an effective T dose for me and stay on it long enough. I feel I may not be a great lose dose loser, could for sure feel the potential during that brief time and have been wanting to try again since. But like most of us here, med insurance I pay hundreds for every month, doesn’t cover (WTH!) and my VA won’t prescribe it anymore since it got popular 😡. I have a college age child, can’t justify spending that kind of money, even compound price, while also trying to help my poor, college student out as much as possible. Guilt!
It’s very frustrating to be in this position and go to these lengths for medical support with something I have struggled with on and off most my life! I’ve gotten the physical fitness part down over the last year, I weight training/condition at least 5 days a week and cardio (walking in HR zone 2-3) usually daily. But DIET is my issue, FOOD cravings are my issue, will power is my issue! I know this and you can’t out train a bad diet. I think I truly need this medication!
I welcome any help and guidance from seasoned veterans at this! I’m open to help and suggestions. I’m finishing up first week of 2.5mg T, today is poke day.
My only concerning side effect when I’m on T (so far, not sure at higher doses, got to 7.5 before and for only 1 month) is constipation. I can struggle with this anyway, so it’s amplified on it. I tried to get ahead this time by starting a full dose of Miralax daily before even starting back, seemed to work first few days but not the last few 😬! Again suggestions welcome as this was an issue last time too. I’ve tried many things though, Miralax usually most effective.

Welcome! I'm new here too. I've been on semaglutide for almost eight months now, and I feel ya with the constipation. I try to eat as much fiber as possible, usually the Costco brand protein bars because they contain a ton of fiber. When it's really bad, I'll use magnesium citrate powder.

Hello and welcome! You can totally do this. I take tirz and I have problems with constipation and I feel like I have it under control. Every day I take, 4-8 Fiber Well gummies(depending if I think that I need more that day, I will take more than 4). I drink a 16.9oz bottle of water mixed with Metamucil, I drink as much water as I can tolerate throughout the day, and if that doesn't work, I pull out the Miralax. If the Miralax doesn't work, Milk of Magnesia. You will notice what you may need if you listen to your body. Try and eat natural fiber and protein. Always remember to stay well hydrated at all times. I'm happy that taking tirz is doable for you this way. I think tirz is great and a life-changing. Good luck to you on your journey. See ya around!
