Hello everyone🙂 I’ve been a silent observer in “guest” mode for a little while now. (Probably arrived around the same time as the influx of others lol 🫣). Firstly, thank you to the seasoned researchers who have created this space and made it such a valuable resource. You guys are amazing and as “stalker-y” as this may come across, I feel like I know many of you already and have learned so much. (Yeah, there’s no way to say that where it isn’t creepy… but I’m normal, I swear!😅)
A little about me: I’m a married, mom of 3 whose body is feeling, acting and looking older (as loathe as I am to admit it).
So how did I get here? (I’ll try to keep it brief for anyone who’s actually reading this haha) I’m a former Marine and gym girlie. Health and fitness were so much a part of my life that I just assumed it would always be that way. Alas, it was not to be so. After a few years of trying (and failing), I was surprised with a 3rd pregnancy. But this blessing was met with difficult circumstances. It was Covid and my husband was in Afghanistan. To top it all off, the pregnancy itself was a difficult one. I know my story isn’t all that unique, we’ve all had our share of hardships during that time. For me, the events sent me into a depression. I put everything I had into being there for my children, but lost myself in the process.
Fast forward to now. My husband is safely home for good, my children are exceptional, and mentally I feel back to my old self. Unfortunately, my body is in a totally different place. I had gained a good amount of weight during that time and after the difficulties of the pregnancy, my body just feels broken and worn down. When Glp’s first made their big appearance on social media years ago, I looked into them and found that I’d never be able to afford that. But then, a little while ago, a miracle happened. I heard about research subjects. And it’s changed my world.
I searched, I studied, I searched some more. It led me here. Then I searched and studied even more. I found a very willing research subject who has been on Reta for about 2 weeks and already showing great progress! She’s elated! Now she’s ready to dip her toe into some other promising research. (Did you know that lab rats could feel such emotions? Who knew!)
Whelp! That was a lot, I know. I’m not sure how much I’ll post in the future (I think EVERY question and answer that could be questioned and answered is already here lol!) Then again, you never know! Maybe one day I’ll feel qualified enough to join in. Thank you for allowing me into this great group. It’s changing lives.
