SRY

Because I don’t want to? I appreciate Alibaba and my layered protection using it and my Apple Pay? I don’t wanna deal with crypto and never will. The end

I said it amazes me. I didn't say to for you to do it. The end of what? You don't get to stifle me, it's a forum. My post might help someone look at crypto a different way. Read yours... it's all about you and I don't give a shit. You do you.

Everyone has different reasons. I'll also never use it. 25-year tech exec, so I'm sure I could figure it out if I wanted to, but I already have very difficult banking situations, and I get audited at least every few years due to investments and such that I'm involved in creating higher scrutiny. I would never introduce more drama to my life with Crypto. I had to switch from SRY to BFF with this last order.

Also have a self employed friend who moved to the US a few years back and gave up all his crypto holdings before he moved because he didn't want the extra scrutiny from the IRS. Also scared of getting his green card reversed for tax reasons too. It's a legit concern.

Personally I live in one of most, let's say, laissez-faire countries in the EU whose government doesn't care about crypto holdings even for capital gains - so I use it at all the time as a payment method.

That's fine and that's your prerogative! 😊

FWIW I was referring to stable coin. Crypto is treated like eBay sales or yard sales, (gains/losses) and the average consumer there aren't enough peptides to buy or pin to equate to a tax burden on stable coin. One can argue the fact you claimed that Form 8949 and didn't have tax repercussions lends heft in getting a pass on an audit. Too bad audit selection is probably done by AI these days.

I can totally see how you want to keep things simple for yourself. Personally I'm not a fan of crypto but sometimes it's the only way to get what I want. Side note based on recent testing trends with SRY you're probably better off with BFF.

You could also just slide someone 5k in cash to anonymously send you some crypto to a wallet that wouldn't complicate your taxes.

I don't really have anything bad to say about Lucy, other than communication could be better. So far everything had gone smoothly and shipment is on the way. Much faster than I was expecting. I just saw others had bad experiences with her.
Ok here is my update so far. Originally Lucy said I need to pay the customs duty fees on my own throug ups when she provided a logistics number. She did provide a logistics number after about a week but it would not work in ups website. I asked her about it and she never even responded. I did find on my own though it worded through DHL website. The DHL website says the customs fee needs to be paid before it will release the package, which is fine... the problem now is when I go to pay it, the site wants to send a passcode to a phone number that is not mine so I have no way of retrieving it. I reached out to Lucy again but waiting for a response. This is the first time I had to go through this many hoops to get a delivery. Maybe others have had to go this route? I will update the outcome when it happens.

Sorry for the misspellings. Lol.

It amazes me how many people are fine with ordering drugs from China and injecting themselves but draw the line at Crypto.

Crypto used for purchasing power is basically a modern day travelers check. You can buy stable crypto such as PYUsd (PayPal), USDT, USDC that align with the US dollar. You can spend it like travelers checks as well. The crypto is the "check" and the network is the "postage." Someone smart on this forum explained the networks as email extensions... If your email address is Goober@AOL.com you're not gonna get mail sent to Goober@msn.com.

Once you get the hang of it it's fun to play around with when you run out of things to buy!
i draw the line at being called smart

It is possible you are overestimating the protection you get with apple pay/alibaba

I'm not specifically familiar with their terms but plenty of credit cards have terms and conditions that will put you on your ass if they find out the details of what's being purchased. lack of purchase protection, potential account closure, etc.

You can distract yourself from the headaches by working on your next SRY order 🙃

Do you know yet how much the DHL customs fee is? Is it like $40?

It appears to be a good thing that I stocked up a few months ago. I have a supply that will last longer than a year. I was hoping that this tariff thing would end soon. However, it seems that it’s going to be going on for a long time, with Trump repeatedly adding new tariffs, then backing down on many, but then adding new tariffs. Hopefully, the vendors get better at dodging tariffs or things get more consistent so that we know what we’ll end up paying.

My last SRY order took 6 weeks. It did arrive fine Monday but it took its freaking time.

I just like using my AfterPay, pay in four.
