Hello!

I'm currently on week 4 of my Reta journey and have gone from around 21% bodyfat to 16-17%, and lost around 14 pounds of weight (started at 182 now at 168). I'm estimating that I will soon hit my 12% bodyfat goal, and was wondering what the method to titrating down would be? I want to still reap the benefits of being insulin sensitive but don't want to continue losing weight as I plan to start adding on lean mass to my phyqisue.

I'm 19 and 6'1.

Thank you!

Hi!

What dosage are you on now?

Unsure if there’s expert opinion regarding this, but since the half life is about 6 days, I think it might make sense to skip one dose/week (I consider drugs no longer active/available after about 2-4 half lives) and then take next dose with half of whatever you’re on now to taper more aggressively.

A slower taper might be like dose reducing but continuing a weekly injection?

Also, being 19 yo, 6’ 1” I assume you are insulin sensitive at baseline. Did you ever measure a hemoglobin A1C or fasting insulin level or even just a fasting glucose? Without clear dysfunction in those labs or medical history, I wouldn’t expect you to not be insulin sensitive without the medication.

I didn’t measure anything prior to using retattrutide but I def was a bigger kid growing up, I’m at 4 mg / week currently and titrated from 1.5 for first two weeks, then 3 for 3rd and 4th week and now 4 mg

Given that you titrated up rather quickly, I’d imagine that you can wean pretty fast too then. It’d be safe to cut the dose in half I’d imagine after taking a week off. Maybe see how a maintenance dose of 0.5-1 mg/week feels at the end of this all if you want to continue? Or even cycle off it completely to see how that feels too?

Again, most kids don’t have significant insulin resistance. But it’s probably not really possible to safely know for your individual purposes without some sort of testing/tracking beyond just weight/body fat percentage.

Good luck!
