Travelling (Flights)

Does anyone have any experience flying with Tirz or Reta to/from UK or US airports? Any issues with security?
I just flew from LAX to Calgary, Canada, and then from Lethbridge, back to Calgary, and back into Los Angeles. I had my peptides in injection pens, 5 total, all stored inside a chilled/cooled insulin travel container (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SYZ22GS?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_13&th=1). I also bought these metallic medical tags and connected one to the insulin travel container (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DS56SL19?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1).

Not that it really matters I suppose, but the peptides I traveled with were: Tirz, BPC-157 (X2), NAD+, and 5amino.

No one at LAX even pulled the container out of my backpack to inspect it. On my flight leaving from Lethbridge, they did pull it out and ask what it was, but as soon as I told them it was medicine that needed to be stored in a cooler and pointed out the medical tag, they plopped it back inside my bag without asking anything further.

I travelled from US to UK last August carrying a reconned tirz vial and syringes/alcohol wipes in an Amazon travel carrier with gel freezer packs. No questions going either direction.

Generally reconstituted is A-OK and there are a ton of anecdotes online that mirror the above (I've likewise had zero issues). Lyophilized seems much riskier, I wouldn't personally do that.

I fly all the time in the US with one vial of recontstituted GLP1 plus an Rx prefilled syringe. I do have an Rx for both but TSA doesn't care about any of that. The only thing they check every time is the ice pack I use in a small fabric lunch box. Gel ice packs are now allowed even if thawed. They don't care about small amounts of personal medications. I even have one of those pill containers that hold a weeks full of pills with random supplements and a few Rx pills that they don't care about either.
TIP: Set the ice pack on top of everything so they don't have to open your med case.

I do sometimes fly internationally to AUS and Asia, but never with peps. I've gone through a couple of simple searches, they didn't care about my Rx pre-filled syringes or pills when they see them but I didn't carry any vials so I am no help there. I don't think I'd try to take anything but a GLP1 and only with an Rx. I've seen those Border Patrol episodes where they think it's something bad. There's also people that say don't label it and call it insulin because their tests come back negative for anything not allowed.

Keep it all together in a medical travel bag in your carryon. I have flown domestic and international without any questions. I also rec. Reconstituted vials. Mine are always labeled.

Only slightly off topic...

When arriving in Osaka, Japan, the non-english speaking customs agent had a poster of illegal items and pointed to them one by one as I said no to each one. After he finished with the 40+ items, he went back to the green leaf that is now legal in parts of the US. He pointed to it multiple times, he did it so long that the wife and I got tired of saying no and just started laughing. They took us into seperate rooms and did a search of bags and shoes, then a pat down. We didn't have anything that they were looking for.

When he was pointing to it, it was feeling like Ferris Bueller's teacher saying "Anyone, Anyone?" on repeat, I swear he pointed to it for 5 minutes.

Here's a question, those who say it was no problem to bring vials of reconstituted peps through customs...

Did they actually see/inspect them or did you just walk on through without them noticing?
There is a difference.

***Remember, things that might be legal in one country aren't legal everywhere and a few have the dealth penalty for whatever they deem illegal substances. Without an Rx, they can do what they want.

I've flown domestic and to Costa Rica from FL multiple times with compounded Tirzepatide from ProRx. I've never even been stopped or questioned. My bag doesn't even get diverted onto the manual inspection belt.

I keep everything in a Ziploc bag. Syringes, alcohol wipes, and the vial wrapped inside some small ice packs and foam. I also include a paper copy of the prescription. I keep it in my carry-on, but when I put it in the tray for TSA inspection, I remove it and place it next to the carry-on.

But as stated, this was an official prescription with official documentation. If I were to travel with my own reconstituted stuff, I think I'd take the time to make an official looking label for the vial.

The odds are that no one will look twice at you. They see thousands of diabetics every day.

I recently traveled from US to Hungary, then from Munich back to US with about 10 pre-filled syringes. No problems or questions.

On the same trip, my mom flew from US to Hungary, then from Munich to Costa Rica with a reconstituted vial and 2 that weren't reconstituted yet. No problems or questions for her, either.

WTH lol I wonder why they seemed to think that you had some. I didn't have anything like that happen when I flew into Tokyo.

The thing is getting randomly selected in customs, sure you can walk past without anyone noticing and walk right into the country without anyone knowing you have anything that is not allowed.

I get randomly selected too much to try to get anything past customs of any country, last thing I want is to get denied entry, so I asked AI about it. This confirms what I see on those border patrol documentary/reality shows.

Get a prescription before crossing any border.

US: Importing tirzepatide or an unapproved research compound like retatrutide without a valid prescription/authorization can violate FDA import rules and the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act for introduction of unapproved drugs; Border/CBP with FDA routinely detain and seize such unapproved or misbranded GLP‑1 products and may refuse entry (criminal or civil referral is uncommon for small personal amounts absent intent to distribute). FDA2

UK: Bringing tirzepatide without prescription or an unlicensed research drug like retatrutide can breach the Human Medicines Regulations (import/supply of unlicensed medicines) and MHRA rules; UK Border Force/MHRA can detain and seize the goods, refuse importation, and—if evidence of supply or serious breach exists—pursue regulatory enforcement or prosecution.

Must have been that we didn't have any luggage, only backpacks because we were only there for two full days and one night. Walked past the baggage carousel and they were insisting that we forgot something. We tried to exit as fast as possible so we had time to do tourist stuff before our flight the next day. They immediately pulled us to the side since they had nothing to do until the others got their bags. We were going to be the first out, ended up being last.

That makes sense. But I wonder if they have a way to figure out that it's tirz, especially if it's in a pen. Or if they have a way to test for insulin, if that's what you claim it is.

I can see why that would look a bit sus. Good for you, getting everything into back packs, even if it was just for a couple of days! Annoying that they took time away from your short trip.

For the people that said they wouldn’t bring the powder vials, why? I bring gummies all the time and I don’t think they could give a shit. I don’t know, do they think the vial is some sort of hard drug or dangerous compound? I have a trip on the horizon….

I have seen one episode where they swabbed it and it came back negative for the bad stuff but they did send it to the hospital to have it tested futher, it seemed they were out to get someone. Don't remember how it ended.

The fact that a vial doesn't have an official label would set off red flags, but I think just having an Rx would be enough if questioned. If it were insulin, why would it not have the factory label? Have to come up with a good excuse. --"I prefer to use my pen" might be good enough.

You're talking about TSA right? I bring gummies too, they don't care unless you bring a bunch of kits and they have the option to advise local law enforcement (if they feel like it). I know people at Seatac.

On the other hand customs has a war on drugs.

Cool. Yeah, just TSA.

Thanks all! Reading all these responses makes me generally less concerned about taking in my reconstituted peptides as it doesn’t seem to be a big deal.

I hope US customs doesn't randomly screen you, you could get denied entry. Those people who were successful through customs didn't get screened. If you have a script and only a GLP1 pen I don't think it will be a problem but if you plan on bringing other peps you might have an issue should they single you out.

TSA is domestic US travel only and no issue, US customs has a war on drugs, especially now.

😲 Yes, clearly out to get someone. I wonder how much that person had.

It's often cheaper to get insulin in vials. I'm sure there are people out there who transfer their insulin to pens.

The first time I flew internationally as an adult, I read that you should bring a copy of your med list signed be your doctor. So, I asked my doc for that and she looked at me like I was crazy. She had never heard of meds being an issue at customs.

I know there are a lot of people who take just enough for the trip, and throw any leftovers away, so they can avoid going through US customs with it.

lol. I had just went to Japan and my wife kept saying we had to have that list and doctor signature. My doctor said he never heard of that - and where I live, everybody has been to Japan. And sure enough, no checking of any of our prescription bottles….

Places like Mexico most meds are OTC, but in Dubai they might be prohibited and they are very strict. I wonder if cutoms agencys have quotas so they can increase their budget with fining people. I just like to be covered because I get randomly selected by customs (and TSA PreCheck) too much, customs looks at every item in my bag and ask me for details if they think it looks sus. Except AUS, only on my first visit did I actually have to talk to someone and explain every detail of why I was there but no search. Now when I go to Brisbane I just do facial recognition and walk through without interacting with anyone. Most countries have these laws but it is up to the customs officer to decide who they will "randomly" choose and if they are going to enforce said law.

I'm no lawyer but I can google what drug import laws each country has, and yes, any medication crossing any border is considered a drug import.

I won't give advise on what or what not to do because who knows when you'll get an agent in a bad mood or a new protocol that has them on high alert. I've flown domestically with my Tirz a few times without incident.
I found these today on Peppy Niimbot and printed some out for future traveling.

Recently traveled to USA and South America with a pouch full of needles, alcohol pads, 2 vials of reconstructed reta and nobody even asked about it. Of course, depends on luck too, if you get pulled out for inspection then it might be different story.
