Understanding Shipment notifications

For anyone still here for another installment of "As the Grey Churns":

Looking like tracking will come in fits and starts (probably CNY-related) based on this morning's update below.

2/7 HK, the goods have arrived at the port, waiting for flight arrangement

2/9 HK, the flight is expected to be on February 10th, the local flight is expected to arrive on February 10th

The Scammer Shipment marches on...
Seems like weekly updates with outdated info:

2/11 US, flight has arrived, customs clearance

FedEx stateside tracking has not changed from "Label Created", but if "Scam Air" is truly in the US, updates should start coming without me having to translate Mandarin. 🤞

Latest update (not good):

2/24 - We just received a notice from overseas that this package is being checked by customs; customs checks are uncontrollable, and the release time is not yet confirmed. We will continue to follow up and actively cooperate to handle this, and we will urge for a quick release. If there are any updates, we will inform you in a timely manner. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding!, United States

Could be the end of the line.

How many pep orders get inspected and pass through to FedEx?

A lot of orders being sent to ONT for fulfillment are disappearing into the black hole of US customs. There's a lot of hubbub in sellers' Telegram groups about this phenomenon. It's common enough that at least one seller is reshipping such orders. My order has be stuck in ONT for 30-something days after a customs inspection notification from the Chinese carrier and my seller has ghosted me.

I just looked at Telegram. It’s a mess! Sterility issues and a lot of people in that 30-day+ No Man’s Land. TFC Alice is not looking too good here.

Does anyone know if this is a common occurrence around Chinese New Year and should be all expect a lot more package seizures?

I can't find the original Telegram post informing people of the failed Janoshik sterility test. It looks like it was purged. The discussion surrounding the failed test is pretty uncomfortable to watch, with many claims that a healthy body should be able to deal with a little bit of bacteria and such. Lot's of apologestists claiming everyone fails the sterility test or it's the grey, buyer beware.

Will filtering mitigate this? Super concerning when the focus has been about reconstituting with good (Hospira) BAC, only to find out the vial you’re dumping it into is contaminated. One step found forward, three steps back.

This article discusses the effectiveness of filtration with PES and PVDF filters extensively, and it does so across three different contamination scenarios: microorganisms, nutrient-derived particulates, and protein-related fouling. Each section evaluates how well the two sterile filters remove or prevent contaminants from passing through.

The article’s core message is that both filters are effective at removing contaminants, but their performance depends on the type of contaminant and the specific point in the manufacturing workflow where sterile filtration is used.

Obviously, you don't have a clean room, so ymmv

What’s frustrating is the Telegram group is being scrubbed of any reference to failed sterility tests or even links to policy regarding product quality (including straight-up quotes), but I can’t discuss it here due to restrictions on my account on discussing that which shall not be named.

I just went through something similar. Luckily the vendor is a good communicator. Basically a day after I placed my order the vendor sent me a FexEx tracking number saying “label created” from inside the US, which made me nervous because I was very much buying from CN with no state side warehouse.

A bit over a week later after it still hadn’t moved and still said “label created” I asked the vendor what the deal was and she said it was going to take a few extra days to get on a plane due to the holiday they are having over there. Sure enough, four days later the Fed Ex tracking picked up and now the package is in my hands as of today. So 14 days door to door.
I'm glad to hear you received your package, going by the day you made this their Chinese New Year celebrations hadn't started yet. Not sure what holidays they are referring too?

Just to wrap this up:

1) Both were caught in the ONT Customs vortex (late Jan/mid Feb) that nothing escaped from. FedEx numbers have not changed status, but I fully expect them to expire or close out at some point.

2) I received refunds from both orders after piecing together the chats and emails. The 2nd one was straight forward but took some time. The first/Scam order turned out to be who I initially thought it was and she refunded me also, after a lot of back and forth, and karma is dealing her a serious taste of comeuppance based on her channels.

Moral of the story: This really is a crapshoot and if you’re not prepared to possibly having to take a bite of that shit sandwich then don’t pay for all the fixins…

I had two orders stuck on the same flight into ONT. from January 26th, flight landed in ONT Feb 8th and sat. Still there as far as I can tell. Seems most orders were rejected and sent back if the vendor paid a fee, from what I was told.
Fist order was refunded the first week of March
The second took some communication back and forth before the vendor would do anything. Last week they finally did refund.
Like others have said, it’s always a roll of the dice. I figure we save enough money that a hit, if taken, can be absorbed. Still hurts but not as bad. Thankfully I didn’t have to take a hit this time but it was touch and go for a minute.
My biggest take away was, look at the vendors reaction. Did they take care of people or ghost them? That to me is very Valuable as it shows when a hiccup happens, and it will in the grey guaranteed, how did the vendor take care of their customers.
I have order from the first vendor again but left the second’s telegram.
So until the next hiccup, I wish everyone a successful delivery.
Oh and seems from like January through March isn’t the best time for orders. 🤣
Not a big deal, I guess the couple years before I hadn’t noticed as I was barely ordering anything. Now that I have been ordering quite a bit more I see different challenges. Nothing bad enough to go back to paying retail single vial prices though… 💩🤣Will be keeping the stockpile high through the first quarter of the year.

If you’re tracking packages coming out of China, a few tools tend to work better than standard carrier sites. 17TRACK is usually the most reliable starting point since it aggregates data from thousands of carriers and can piece together multi-leg shipments (China → customs → USPS/FedEx). 517Track is another option that sometimes shows earlier China-side scans, especially for carriers like Yanwen or Cainiao, though it’s a bit less polished. Mobile apps like Package Tracker or the 17TRACK app are also useful if you’re managing multiple deliveries and want notifications.

Just keep in mind these platforms don’t generate tracking data, they only display what carriers report....so “movement” doesn’t always guarantee a legitimate shipment. Most China packages follow a predictable flow: initial pickup, export scan, a quiet period while in transit, then arrival in the U.S. for final delivery. A good rule of thumb is to start with 17TRACK, fall back to 517Track if nothing shows up, and once it hits the U.S., switch to the official carrier site for the most accurate updates. Also, pay attention to the tracking number format itself (e.g., YunExpress, Cainiao, China Post), since that often tells you more about what’s actually happening than the tracking site alone.

1. www.517track.com (note, you have to keep this 'www' only and remove the https, this one doesnt work secure, Sometimes surfaces earlier China-side scans (Yanwen, Cainiao, etc.)

2. https://www.17track.net/en

Used them all including Packages, AfterShip, etc. Some just don’t track.

I just popped over to TG to take a peak. Not many updates here either.
