It’s hard to imagine how this will not mean changes to GLP1 supply and pricing going forward, it’s no coincidence this shake up/ shakedown of pricing happens with EL just shy of 3 months before “the deal” is announced. With new products on the way to market.

Smells fishy to me 🎣 and I know who is holding the rod

I speculate that the price will go up. Trumps intervention caused the UK price of mounjaro ( by private purchase in UK to go up significantly hence why a lot of folks turned to Grey including myself).

In order to lower prices for US domestic customers ( by a bit) I speculate that Trump told pharma I will open up the UK market so you can get the drugs quicker and as a result they will pay you more and pay you quicker because I will sweeten it and I won’t put a tariff on them.

When EL got the deal to supply the NHS they had to accept less than they probably wanted because there is a cap, that will go up when that deal ends and future deals will also go up. When reta arrives and Orforglipron they will get more money and get it faster.

The consequences of this will be likely be that US pharma companies will be preferred/ first choice and our health service pays more which means sadly, we can offer it to less deserving people. We could have done a deal with Canada when they make generic sema after the licence lapsed, which would save a lot of money and therefore widen access to glp1 treatment for those who need it.

I suspect the impact on grey will happen as moves are made to crack down on grey routes to markets to protect US pharma interests/ the deal.
