what's the impact of injecting into the muscle?

Use a shorter needle, pull the skin and inject at an angle of 45 degrees.
Anyway, if you really injected into a muscle, I don't think it's a big deal, you will be fine.

What size needle are you using? It's pretty unlikely with an 8mm needle that you'd hit muscle in your stomach, unless it's in a super lean area.

As Milos said, it probably doesn't matter if you did, as long as you didn't hit a blood vessel (in which case you would've seen blood on the needle). Otherwise your pep will just get absorbed more rapidly to the bloodstream from the muscle.

A bump could also just be a lipoma which can happen if you inject into the same tissue over time.

I would recommend using your non-dominant hand to make a "c" shape. Grab the skin/fat and pinch your thumb towards your fingers until the skin is taught. This will help prevent getting into the muscle as well as reduce injection pain.

Absorption is faster in the muscle. So the risks are more side effects and shorter effect of what you injected
