Discord will require a face scan or ID for full access next month

I will have to wait and see what people that are better informed then me think. I do not want the government possibly being able to get this info in the future. Do I really want then more easily tracking my grey peptide purchases? What if they decide to crack down on the future?

They are saying the pic or clip never leaves your device and is only for age verification. That's if you believe them.
 
I'm not particularly concerned about the government (which I can't imagine is explicitly requiring this of Discord).

A platform which is entirely about sharing information, ideas and opinions has no business whatsoever verifying age, beyond maybe agreeing to Terms of Service.

They are changing their policy to assume that everyone is a teenager because of issues they've had with predators in certain servers. So this is what they are now requiring, and anyone who doesn't verify will be assumed to be too young to do so.

I can see the logic but unless they scan government issued ID then they won’t know age so this won’t completely eliminate teenagers.

Nvm. I just read article and I guess you will have to show government ID. I don’t like that. I will be done with discord for gray. Don’t need the government tracking this.

That's what they're asking for, from what I read. Either a government form of ID or a video clip of you. Neither is foolproof.

That's a very good point, at least where grey is concerned. As best I can tell, Discord only considers sexual content to be adult-only ... as of now. But I could be wrong about that.

That article doesn't define what is non-teenage content. It implies that it's only pornographs. The inbox will be a little more confusing for non-verified, it sounds like.

On Discord's guidelines page, the only thing which might affect grey is
7. If you are under the age of 18, you may not engage in sexual conduct or any other conduct using Discord that puts your online or physical safety at risk. The only example given is vigilantism, leaving a very big (pun apology) grey zone for the definition of risk -- probably deliberately.

Looks like DAL net is still around actually.

I’ve hesitated on joining Discord because of all their privacy issues and have been casually looking for decentralized solutions.

So far I have at least two friends who seem interested in diving deeper into Matrix.

IRC is still around. I wonder why people don't chat about peps there. I would think that would be harder to shut down groups. I guess the issue though is everyone's IP is exposed.
 
And EVERY TIME they try to say, " IT'S FOR THE CHILDREN!😱" I know they're full of shit.
It's for a database of all user habits to see where they can strip us of our money and restrict our freedom to live HOW WE WISH...which of course they know far better than we how we should think, believe and live. /s

They are definitely going to crack down on grey peptides in the near future. The real question is when exactly, and will they go after end users along with resellers who have already been targeted

I've seen the paranoia about "end-users" possibly being targeted.
Not gonna happen. No legal justification to punish you for trying to make yourself "better".
Now resellers in the wild wild west of this peptide craze is a different story. They will shut down access ( as best they're able-we'll continue to find new access ) like they've done in the past with 'roids by targeting specifics. Precursors and manufacturers. That's my bestest hypothesis.
All conjecture but I've not just fallen off the turnip truck. That was last month.
