Those on Tirz ..what have been your biggest side effects? gain/loss of sugar cravings? Loss of taste for certain foods? Any others? I TRY not to eat candy but if I could still eat my bags licorice and get away with losing weight at the same time life would be great. lol

Gerd. Lotsa gerd. Was worse the first month, less now.

20 hours after my first shot, I nearly puked. Mouth just filling with saliva, spitting for like 3 minutes. Couldn't swallow. I was 226 lbs and that was only 3mg dose, so it's not like I dosed too high or something.

Since then the reactions have been milder, just some stomach discomfort, again typically 15-20 hours after the shot.

I experience a lot of what they call "food noise". Tirz doesn't seem to suppress my desire for food. It does make me feel full after only 3 bites, however.

The effect of Tirz wears off on me pretty quickly, maybe by day 4. So I'm doing a 6 day dosing rather than 7. I'm 3 months in and at 7.5mg dose, about to step up to 10mg as I've plateaued for the last 3 weeks, losing maybe a pound a week lately.

I have considered going to a 1/2 dose ever 3 days. I've also thought of mixing Reta and Tirz. Haven't read enough on either subject to make a decision as of yet, though.

Overall I'm down 39 lbs, from a BMI of 40 down to 33. All because of like $60 worth of magic powder.

I have not experienced any of the gastro side effects. It pretty much immediately shut the food noise off in my brain. I didn't realize I had "alcohol noise" but that's gone also.

My only real side effect that I have had to deal with has been anhedonia. It was worse in the first 8-12 weeks, but consistently getting to the gym has helped immensely.

I know a couple people irl who've mixed reta/tirz with good results. They were on tirz then switched to reta to break through a stall and then had side effects when titrating up their reta. So they switched to microdosing reta and continuing tirz and are losing again.

Are loss of cravings considered side effects? Depends on if you're referring to obsessive food noise vs normal hunger cues and cravings. I'd imagine you can still enjoy your licorice in moderation if you're managing the rest of your diet and exercise and medication well. Unless licorice makes you start binging or something, then ymmv.

I personally started from a microdose at 0.50mg, so my side effects were probably milder than others who started at 2.5mg. Experienced decreased appetite, quicker to feel full. I lost the constant ruminating on food very quickly. I didn't experience any GI side effects until 1.25mg.

This is what I was thinking, Tirz with a touch of Reta, or maybe a small Tirz along with a normal Reta?

GERD was really bad. But, I had huge Gastro issues. Stomach inflated, nothing would pass
Pain was horrible.
Finally threw up, which relieved my pain.
Now, saying that. I am tenacious to a fault. And I skipped a week, and slowly introduced it back with 2.5 MG shots at 10 days, then 7. Finally I settled in and all is good.

I get pens through prescription, so no way to reduce or spit dosages.
If I were to do it again, it would be through a better titration schedule than what is available through the doctor.

I am now seeing reduced effects near the end of the week, but still good enough to sit at 2.5 MG. And, a dose of Cagri to help out a bit.

I started real slow and have been doing Tirz since October. I have poop pebbles and have had to take a poop med to help me go to the bathroom but only twice. I get slightly nauseous on day of pin. I don't things taste as good as they used to unless it's sweets. I have not had gerd. It has removed the food noise also.

Because it's a gastric slow-down drug, pooping slows down. Take a stool softener and don't freak out. Side effect. . . . if you enjoy drinking like i did, it absolutely ruined it for me. A single glass of wine, could be okay. Beer is carbonated, so it sorta sucks too. I noticed folks that get bariatric surgery often forfeit carbonated beverages similarly.

I followed the EL recommended dosing and titration schedule - 2.5 mg for 4 weeks, then 5.0, 7.5, etc. Got to 15 and kept losing, SW 273, stalled at 190. Started dosing every 6 days, then 5, only a few pounds more came off. Then went back to 7 days between tirz and added 2.5 mg reta midweek. Bingo! Now down to 175, GW 165. No sides at all with tirz, some GERD with reta. And needed to get proactive with Dulcolax and Miralax to ensure things kept moving.

I split my Mounjaro by transferring the contents of my 4/monthly factory pens into a single sterile 5ml LurLoc syringe body by inserting the needle of the pen into the exit hole of the syringe and tripping the pen as per usual. I use 5ml as the Lily pens squirt the contents rather vigorously creating a lot of foam that needs the extra volume. After I massage the foam away, I then transfer the precious fluid to a cartridge and then I can control my dosage with my adjustable pen. 1st factory pen I tried to inject into my syringe went everywhere but into the syringe. Missed the opening of the LL. Not a mistake a guy would make more than once. There are other methods of getting the factory cartridge with needle from the factory pen.. Many good videos on YouTube. that I tried but always felt like I was taking a grenade apart...

The reflux/gerd/whatever the f you want to call it. At night, after I would take bp meds and other pills, always felt like they were stuck in the back of my throat and sometimes hard to swallow. Now take famotidine one in am,one at night, and back to normal. I was freaking out about the not being able to swallow though, that wasn’t cool.

i was on name brand zep for about a year-year and a half. the first 3-4 weeks like clock work 36 hours after my shot, and again when i went up to the 5mg i would be so sick with nausea, projectile vomiting and explosive diarrhea for about 24 hours, then id be perfectly fine. recently went on a 6 month break due to insurance and started back up with the single dose vials rather than the auto pin. i thought i would be smart and use up every last drop of the solution and got an extra .5mg equaling 3mg total... i regret that decision. i was so incredibly sick i even threw my back out (chronic back issue) from vomiting so hard. i cut the next dose in half and when i make the switch to reta im definitely going to titrate alot more slowly

Anyone ever noticed that red wine has a very off taste after starting Tirz?

Just repatriated back, had my first glass of wine the other night, since starting Tirz 3 mo's ago. Was an opened bottle, probably leftover from a few weeks ago. So I assumed it was just stale.

So tonight I popped the cork on a fresh bottle, wow! Nope! Not a great flavor.

This may be enough to move me to Reta! Please tell me Reta doesn't have this issue...

My research rat shows hard bump and pain at injection site (Reta <1mg) more than 48 hrs post. Other rats using from same batch with no side effects.

Red wine is no longer enjoyable. It's not really that it tastes bad as I can drink it but it doesn't taste good either. Manhattan's aren't as enjoyable either due to the sweet vermouth. I can enjoy other cocktails though. Overall alcohol consumption has decreased. This is partly due to watching my diet, but even on a night off I still don't have a big desire to drink.

I haven't noticed a major change in other foods or drinks.

Started at 2.5 and had some pretty strong nausea for 24-48 hours after dosing for the first 3 weeks. Recently jumped to 3.75 and had the worse constipation of my life. My desire for Diet Coke is gone after a 3 a day 20 year habit. And, to my horror, I can no longer finish a glass of wine at happy hour!

After a year of horrible nausea and malaise from low dose Ozempic 0.8mg/week, I had hardly any side effects from tirz going up to 15mg/week in a month, little bit of nausea sometimes and one episode of skin feeling weird. I did use small frequent doses and I am not recommending this approach, but individual side effect responses do seem to be super variable.

So you split up the 15mg/week into how many doses?
Curious because I wonder if a more exact split or bump towards the end of the week?
I haven't yet decided what's best personaly. Thanks 😇

As I had nausea on Ozempic , and I worked out second day dosing worked to reduce it a bit, I just kept going with the same arrangement, gradually building it up over a month. At the start I had expected tirz to only be a bit better for nausea and to need a much lower dose, but I had drastically less nausea, and was pleasantly surprised. Although the higher dose meant it would cost way too much ( $690 Au/mo ) and luckily I found this forum then. Still on 2nd day dosing partly as third day or twice a week is easier to mess up, and partly just being lazy and familiar with that pattern, probably does have less side effects, swapping to weekly I would need to be careful as I have no idea what would happen if I had a 15 mg dose, so still on tirz 4.5mg/2days and 1.4mg reta every 2 days. The benefit of more frequent dosing is really just to minimise side effects or if trying to increase doses more rapidly.

Another possible side effect; cigars don't taste the same any more. It's sort of like what I mentioned with the red wine; not terrible, but an off flavor, and not what I remember from 3 months ago when I had my last one.

I was on 2.5mg Zepbound for 3 months.
  • Appetite Suppression
  • Constipation
  • 2nd week had one day of diarrhea. (just once probably due to the shock of the meds)
  • Very tired until I made sure to eat and drink water or electrolyte powdered water.
The constipation never really left until I switched to retatrutide. For some reason, I'm close to regular and I eat more but no weight gain. Reta rocks!

I've had the typical constipation and nausea but they've been manageable with meds and supplements. One major side effect I never expected was how tirz takes away my chronic neck pain & headaches. I'm so thankful about it but it's always a bummer on the day before my shot when the tirz is wearing off and my pain comes back with a vengeance.
