Hey all, I just talked to Peptidetest about purchasing the work surface that's pictured in a few shots on their website and they've agreed to now offer them for sale. They're just like the work surface shelves you've seen in the syringe filtering videos. I just picked up a pair and my plastic mat will be officially retired.

I got this from Amazon. Fifteen bucks, and I like it a lot.

We had those in the school cafeteria.

It's a common Chinese one sold under many names, for e.g. Songmics organizee shelf. It's not stainless steel, it's gray colour powder coated metal. It's definitely not aseptic.

I got mine for 10€. It's definitely not worth 40$.

This guy is a clown who knows nothing about sterile practices, taking advantage of gullible people. One of the comments under his video was about how he places his hands behind the vials in the laminar flow hood, interrupting the flow.

Glad you got a good deal, bruh.

Ok, I got the cheaper ones. I talked to Peptidetest and he said his costs are about $30, all in, but they are powder coated steel and lab-quality construction. I ordered the ones above and I was concerned about the surface being too porous to sterilize properly, but they'll do fine. Thanks for the tip.

It sounds like he might have been blowing a little smoke, they are literally the same exact pix. 🤑As long as you're happy and confident in your purchase, that's what counts. And of course being from Amazon they'll be easy enough to return if they don't live up to expectations.

Exactly. And he actually agreed with that, and said if they weren't the same to let him know. I do like to support the vendors that support the "hobby", so that was my primary motivation.

I use a plastic tray that gets sprayed with alcohol, and lysol.
I can't imagine having to have my hands hovering in the air the whole time im filtering into a skinny cartridge.. though I did get a very cute rainbow striped cartridge holder from allthingspeptides 😁 that I hope will help

lol there isn’t anything this guy won’t sell huh? It’s such a hoot to watch him put that used car salesman disposition to work getting in on the gold rush any way he can. Not a lot surprises me but honestly didn’t see the furniture sales coming. Can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.

New paper towels? Not sterile or anywhere near a laminar flow hood, but at least clean and unlikely to have too many human pathogens. Unlike a normal kitchen bench surface or cloth surface unless very thoroughly cleaned with antiseptics. Plastic bin liners from a roll might be better for lower bug count but might be a bit too low friction for practical use. With proper technique nothing from the surface should get near the inside of the vials anyway.

He said he's had several requests for them based on his video, and after I asked him about them, he decided to offer them for sale. He's running a business and I probably would have done the same thing.

It’s hard to imagine a serious lab doing that. It’s weird. If you told janoshik you liked his table he might tell you where he bought it, he wouldn’t be like “great I’ll add it to my website.”

No, he'd probably say, "Hey, I'll give you a good deal on the HPLC analyzer, slightly used". 🤣 I get the impression that peptidetest sees a need and fills it like a small business does. He's not raking in multiple thousands a day like Magic is.
