Not sure if I believe this….. Maybe wishful thinking on the part of Lindt.

hey fellow kids, have you heard? People on glp1's are eating more delicious, creamy Lindt chocolate, the chocolate that enchants the world!

Edit 20 min later: God damnit I thought I was funny, then I immediately got it in my head to add a pack of truffles to my grocery order for tonight. Hoisted on my own petard!

I'm not so sure about that. I'm a big fan of dark chocolate and I haven't touched it in months. It just doesn't hit the same. I also don't consider Lindt to be a top tier chocolate maker, but I've been passing on all of it.

High cocoa % dark chocolate, in small quantities like 20 grams is a pretty good diet food, and is surprisingly not addictive, at least for me. Lindt is just too expensive now at $8 Aus for 100g.
I really cannot see how people taking GLP's are going to eat more chocolate overall than binging a couple of 200 gram blocks a week, like I was doing when obese.

Omg, yes! So much more chocolate, didn’t crave it before but now it’s never-ending. Totally counter productive to my goals. Which is one of the many reasons I’m finally switching from Semaglutide to Tirz… hoping that will curb the insatiable sweet tooth a bit better!

The low-fat and low-calorie people will disagree, but 85%+ dark chocolate is (aside from some minor heavy metal concerns) health food. Even without GLPs, it's challenging to overeat. Also its fatty acid profile is heavily weighted towards stearic acid and probably the richest in that of any commonly available fat source that you'll find.

I've never been a chocolate fan. Don't hate it, just don't crave it. But by GOD I'm having issues with cinnamon rolls right now....Roomie brought home a box of cinnabon and I swear they're chanting my name.
Cinnabon 😩 The cinnabon stix used to be my absolute favorite. Wish they hadn’t discontinued them

The research isn’t actually independent or unbiased, but the article was published in Reuters, so I thought that they might be checking on things and that there is some science behind the claim. I think it’s more wishful thinking on Lindt’s part, not only that glp-1 users are eating more chocolate than non-users, but also that their product is premium 😂. From most accounts, food retailers and restaurants are facing declining sales due to glp-1 usage.

That's what I thought also A lot of the BF manufacturers and others are looking for alternatives. For myself, I just don't see any. How do you target someone who is content with two celery sticks and a chicken thigh for dinner?

I would argue there could be some truth behind Lindt's claim,

first thoughts load of pish can't be having more, but then Lindt is more on the premium side a lot of us former fatties (speaking for myself and projecting for all) would focus on low cost high volume snacks and now we don't have the same insatiable voice screaming eat me eat me to everything, your budget can be more selective to higher end products.

basically quality over quantity for those wanting a treat

Definitely not my experience. I don't crave sweets much at all and I cannot stand the way soda tastes now (diet or regular). Funny thing is, I have a hobby farmstand, so I bake all of the time. Amazing stuff, old family recipes, homemade candies, you name it and I don't even lick the bowl anymore😂

Sometimes an intense chocolate craving can be a signal of insufficient magnesium. It's not always the case, but can be a good diagnostic for random cravings.

So let me get this straight: GLP users are more likely to purchase chocolate than other cohorts of the general population, even after beginning treatment?

You mean people who struggle with limiting sweets continue to enjoy the things they love even while dieting?

I honestly have a hard time believing the veracity of this given my own experience. Since starting Reta a couple months ago, I have not had chocolate, candy, ice cream, or most anything sweet at all.

Chocolate used to be THE thing that ruined my diet before. Chocolate and Ben & Jerry's. While there were a few short moments when I thought I'd quite like some, I never did and didn't feel like I have to. So, sorry Lindt, I can't agree.

I've got a shelf of nice dark chocolates that hasn't been touched since I started on reta.
Thinking about tossing or giving them away to get the space back for something important.
😆

As a confirmed chocolate addict who has not wanted chocolate since starting tirz, this article surprises me. I have not craved chocolate in months and months. I will, however grab a small handful of M&M's if they happen to be easily accessible...cuz they are there.

I ate mine before starting Reta because I didn't want to take a chance. I had a nice selection of some small boutique maker chocolates, which was my indulgence. Well, that and good tequila. Both are gone now.

Alas, the cinnamon rolls won. RIP cinnamon rolls 😀 But on another note, I've noticed that everything "protein" that I buy is chocolate to make it more palatable. Shakes, snack bars, meal replacements etc..all covered with dark chocolate. As someone that doesn't get the choco craving, it honestly is tedious to me. And yet any other flavors of the same product could gag a maggot.

First was my trial with Reta, now am on a trial run of Tirz to determine which is best for me. Both are responsible for a huge drop in Hershey and Reese's sales, as I am now able to resist the urge to consume a whole bag in a single setting. I can have 2 mini Reese's cups and stop. There is a very faint voice in my head that's shouting "BINGE!!" but now I can barely hear it and can easily resist it.

true.. but straight up dark chocolate is yucky.
I don't know where they're getting the data points from, seems weirdly specific to say a 17% increase in glp users chocolate intake. Personally, disagree - def eating less chocolate than before.

This rings somewhat true for me. Not that I'm seeking out "higher quality" chocolate but I am finding that one small piece of chocolate (I'm currently on a Dove Promises run) is now adequate for a satisfying dessert, vs a pint of Ben & Jerry's or a row of Double Stuff. So I am buying more small and individually wrapped chocolate than I was before. No Reese's though because no amount of medicine can make that a safe choice.

It's certainly an acquired taste for many people and if your prior experience with chocolate is for it to be a heavily sweetened desert where half the cacao butter is replaced with some other junk fat and sugar is the top ingredient, then compared to that real chocolate is going to be an unpleasant experience.

Of course, for many of us that's a big part of what got us in this mess in the first place: We became addicted to hyper-palatable food designed to overpower our normal hunger and satiety mechanisms and never discovered the pleasure of the more traditional foods our ancestors enjoyed.

Shiiiiet a Pape Johns BBQ Chicken Bacon Pizza sounds good right about now
Ewww. Just kidding. I don't care for chain pizza. We have a few mom and pop pizza joints that are great. Yes I live in Florida. We get shit here that our pizza and similar food isn't anything like up north.
