Best place to buy filters

There was another thread here recently where many were calling into question the sterility markings on needles (the ones that turn from blue to black after autoclaving).

It's frustrating to be sure, but the best way so avoid counterfeits is to use trusted sellers.

I doubt any of these filters are made anywhere other than china?

It's pennies, if that, stuck in the filter. I push through the hold back because otherwise it's too much math and I math all day long. All I want to do at 5am standing in my kitchen is swab, draw, and pin. 🤣😂

I just add a little extra bac to get it all. Not a big deal to me either way as kitty says

Do you filter Klow at all? I was unsure if it would ruin it?

I should have been more clear. My point is that Amazborg is full of counterfeit products, And yet they are our go-to source for supplies to fix...a product that isn't sold thru legitimate supply chains.

I started filtering because of the Nexaph Staph fiasco. Who is to say those Amazborg knock-off filters aren't just as contaminated?

It's like applying a 2nd coat of black paint to the walls, to help brighten up the room.
 
Can someone point me to a video that shows the basics of how to filter? I know there are a million of them, but if it is anything like the million videos that show how to reconstitute, some are completely correct but most are not.
 
I filter everything now. I didn't when I first started researching, but it's easy after you do it a few times. I got Jinteng 4 mm from Amazon, which are decent quality. For 13 mm, I ordered from peptidetest.

I've mentioned this before, but I don't see the word sterile or sterilized anywhere on Ks-tek cartridge page..

Really? The pics I’ve seen of the individually packaged filters say sterile on each pack.

So Sorry I meant cartridges! I edited my post. The filters do say sterile, but I need cartridges too and it doesnt say that for them.

Personally I’d avoid the KS Tek carts. I’ve heard too many stories of them leaking. The two multi-brand carts sterility tests I’m aware of both had HDRSMTMED passing sterility and they tested a lot of carts.

But that’s why a lot of people re sterilise them in a pressure cooker.

I don’t, other people do.

General process is to remove the stopper - either by throwing them in a vacuum canister hooked to a vacuum sealer, or by opening the pack and using these little widgets people print to remove them.

Into a new bag, sterilise cycle on the Instapot, then into the oven to dry.

I’ve suggested they could be rinsed with sterile water for injection but some people don’t like that idea.

I thought I read somewhere that folks just put the unopened packages in the pressure cooker and “cook” them at a high temperature for a good amount of time. Some stoppers will pop out, but that it’s still possible to insert them into the cart without opening the sterile packaging.

Yeah but using that method is you don’t know how long into the cycle that the stopper popped out, so you have no idea how long the inside got steam. Also some don’t pop thus the vacuum sealer method

I didn't realize that the stopppers have to pop for the sterilization to work. I was thinking that the overall heat and pressure would pentrate the cartridge. Thanks for the heads up. I see over on Peppys that some folk use UV light. What you think about that method?

I started down this rabbit hole after the Nexaph Staph fiasco. I was reading how some companies print the sterile indicators in black ink instead of the color changing ink to prove sterility; was getting me even more freaked out.

I wanted to buy an autoclave (reasonably cheap on the used market; old dentists equipment mostly), set up a laminar flow hood, etc.

What I did learn was it isn't the steam that sterilizes. It's the temp and time. The steam just makes it happen quicker. If the stoppers don't pop out, that's not a problem. I also read that UV light does not penetrate packaging well, and is not well-suited to sterilizing needles, vials, cartridges, filters, etc.

I finally gave up and decided to just buy filters, needles, and vials from reputable suppliers instead.

See, this was my understanding too! I don't think it's an issue if you put these things in your instapot at the highest temperature setting and run it like two hours and the stoppers don't pop out.

Totally agree about buying stuff from reputable sources. I spend my time finding those types sources rather than worrying about other things. Nothing in life is 100%.

I found a Pelton and Crane from a retiring veterinarian.

Only a few of the sterilization pouches that my cartridges came in changed color when I ran them through. I obtained name brand sterilization pouches, autoclave indicator tape, and standalone sterilization indicators. All 3 changed color as expected.


It's been great to not have to rely on "trust me bro, it's sterilized" from suppliers
