Signal is like whatsapp or telegram, except it's actually secure and encrypted between endpoints, and doesn't share keys with authorities in multiple countries. Been on the scene for about 10 years and proven solid while the others have been compromised repeatedly (or, as above, meta simply handed keys to national authorities - if you live in or communicate with anyone in a few dozen countries, every message you send or receive is unencrypted).

TLDR: As a long-time security person, I appreciate this.

That's what Telegram is for, however, Telegram is not by default end to end encrypted. We chose Signal because today it is the #1 platform for security.
