🆒 RETATRUDING HAS BEGUN!! I finally pushed the plunger!🆒

I am low dose, I started at 2mg. I was good for a few weeks, until it built up I guess. I got to 3 before it really started going sideways. Dropped the dose back down now waiting for the levels in my system to drop. Still getting random spikes of over 100 now. Yesterday me and the hubby went out, just walking from the car the theater kicked it up to 118.

Edited to add that last Saturday while shopping it went to 157, I was in rough shape. A rat hair from heading to the ER. Since then it's went up into the 120s several times.
Damn....POTS life really is crazy because before I was put on a beta blocker my HR would jump to 140+ just from getting out of bed each morning. 157 wouldn't have even made me blink.

I think reta really, really requires electrolyte supplementation or at least adding more salt to your diet to help with the increased HR.

errr...wouldn't salt increase your BP and HR?

My RHR so far is 72
Not necessarily! Salt makes you retain water, which increases blood/plasma volume, and makes your HR less likely to spike wildly. Increasing salt without increasing water along with it isn't a good idea though.

Water retention and increased blood volume are precisely what cause hypertension and a heart rate spike.

Check this.

Excessive salt consumption can indirectly increase heart rate and cause palpitations, as the body struggles to manage high blood pressure and fluid retention. While it primarily drives up blood pressure by adding volume to the bloodstream and straining the heart, it can also lead to palpitations and affect heart rate variability. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Impact of High Salt Intake on the Heart:
  • Fluid Retention: Too much salt forces the body to retain water, increasing blood volume, which strains the heart and increases pressure in blood vessels.
  • Heart Palpitations: High-salt meals can cause your heart to beat harder or faster, often perceived as fluttering or pounding.
  • Increased Strain: High sodium intake can trigger sympathetic nervous system activation, leading to palpitations or irregular rhythms, such as atrial tachycardia.
  • Rapid Effects: Within 30 minutes of high salt consumption, the ability of blood vessels to dilate can be impaired. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7]
Other Considerations:
  • Common Symptoms: In addition to palpitations, signs of high salt intake include swelling in legs/feet, bloating, and headaches.
  • Recommendation: Experts recommend keeping daily sodium intake below 2,300 mg, ideally closer to 1,500 mg, to avoid putting undue stress on the cardiovascular system. [1, 4]
If you experience persistent rapid or irregular heartbeats, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional.

Check this machine out

Ipl hair removal

I’m sorry @Smiter
I will say the silk-epil are the best 👍🏻
I'm hijacking the thread back to hair......lol

I've decided to buy both. I will use the silk-epil on my back. I pay $65 for waxing so 2 uses and it's paid for.

I will also get the IPL machine (and thank you recommending it) and experiment with it on my hands. Yes, I have hair on my hands and knuckles (ugh).

I did more reading on the IPL's and every dermatologist / doctor says they do not permanently remove hair. Well, technically they are correct. However, after the initial 12 weeks of using it all you need is maintenance which is 1 session a year. If that's not close enough to permanent, I don't know what is !!

Thief, OCD, Hirsutically challenged, ... wait! As compensation, I demand you fork over some of those machines for testing. Let's see what all the hue and cry is about.

silk-epi on your back? You are not into this 50 shades of maso or whatever, right? I tried a hair removal cream strip once and that was it.

Not always, depending on various health conditions.

And what many people in this thread are describing as their experience with reta causing increased HR/HR spikes, and the general consensus that being hydrated and/or taking electrolytes supplements can help with that, it reminds me very, very much of what I experience due to POTS.

Hmmm...in the article you cited above, it mentions that POTS results in hypovolemia, NOT hypervolemia. Hypo means less. I'm assuming that it means POTS lowers blood fluid volume, therefore it makes sense to use salt to increase it. So, for a person with normal fluid volume, high salt intake would cause increased HR and BP. Now, if Reta requires electrolytes-consumption, I imagine that's mainly due to insufficient micronutrient intake similar to dehydration. In that case salt- sodium chloride alone would exacerbate the issue of imbalance. That said, it's possible the symptoms might feel similar to what you experience.
Ergo, am sure any weight loss can have dehydration effects and thus cause lower blood volume, but using high salt when you have high HR may not be prudent if you dont have POTS

Not sure if related but I recently started taking aspirin and holy cow I felt like I got my 20yo mojo back. Bam it's like I'm a tripod all night.

My last two blood tests, low sodium and chloride. I was dehydrated from drinking to much water a days, and just flushing everything out.. Currently drinking a half Liquid a Day.

Depends on how much over time.

Just started stacking reta (first pin Friday night) and my Oura ring notices something is up with my resting heart rate the last two days 🤣.

69 BPM is elevated? WTF? I've always ran at 72 since I've been watching since 10/2022. I have one of those finger tip ones that does O2 as well.

Thanks pal. I've been hearing about Cagri. The shutdown is bothering me no end. I, on the other hand, am at my wits' end. Have you heard of Lipo-C? Any idea if it works?
Yes, have heard of Lipo-C, but never used it. Really great right now at the Reta/Cagri and an idea that I might go back with Tirz (maybe I am crazy (no maybe there) but I FEEL like there is so much less inflammation with Tirz)...

Mine use to be 46-50 in my 40's when I was racing on a road bike and running marathons.
I don't even want to say what it is now with Reta.............85 !! (there)

The first I want to do is apologize to Smiter for going off topic and hijacking the thread 😉

I left the forum and spent the last hour googling epilators. How can I be almost 65 and never heard of the devices. I guess my ex-wife was Asian; no hair.
I read Good House Keeping article and watch YouTube vids.

I have 2 in my Amazon cart. Both are returnable.
Philips Series 8000 (Best for beginners)

Braun Silk-epil 7 (#1 on every site and video)

Thank you SeaGypsy 🙂
I personally prefer home IPL/laser hair removal. If you're willing to suffer some pain, might as well make it permanent.🙃

Whyyyyy? Surely you ladies must have invented some pain-free methods right? After all, this is for you folk, not men. Why would you want pain?
Well, epilators work by trapping and pulling hair with a turning coil (ouch!) and it grows back...might as well deal with the laser sting (which is less painful than pinning peps) and never see thy pesky plumage reappear.

I'm sure @randompersonrandom will enjoy the effect this comment had on me. ☹️ 😕😢

This could be a placebo effect, but I'm less hungry too. I can't eat as much as I did yesterday. This could be because I have used GLP before in 2020-2022 when I was diabetic, or it could be due to the sleeve gastrectomy I had.
Fellow sleever here. I can confirm the 'feeling less hungry' even on a smaller dose. I am very happy with that feeling! 😀
