Started Reta at the wrong dose!

Ok, so we finally started reta today and my husband was the guinea pig. I accidentally gave him 2.5 mg for this first dose instead of 0.25! 😱 Anything we can or should do to counter the effects? My initial plan was to do 0.25 twice a week so what should I give him going forward? Should I wait 3 weeks, considering the half life, before giving him another 0.25 so he can be back on the original intended dose? We were gonna increase every 4 weeks if needed, favoring a slow and steady loss while minimizing side effects.

He's going to feel it for sure. He might not eat for a week. I'd probably wait a week or so before that next shot. Please report back how severe his side effects are. Inquiring minds want to know.

yeah, he'll be fine. While I agree 2mg and over is a bit much for first time Reta users.. it's going to be fine. I think worst case he may feel a bit of an upset tummy as his body adjusts.
Give it 7 days then bring the dose back down... say to 1mg or even less. I started my RT10 journey at 600mcg then 800mcg and on to 1mg every 5 days. I have now settled on 1.2 (12 units) every 5 days and that has been the sweet spot. May titrate up as needed if I start getting random food cravings again. It's been amazing how it works... that food noise is gone and no more cravings for alcohol, weed, cookies, chips etc. Hell, last night I ate an In N Out cheeseburger and couldn't even finish the fries (at no fault of the fries) lol

I suggest you decide based on your primary reason for using Reta. Without knowing anything else, if a large loss of weight is the goal, then the dose should be fine. If it's maintenance, then you have to wait it out and ensure the minimal effective dose, for a more reasonable long-term dosage.

I started at 2mg. He’ll likely be fine.

I started at 2mg too. That's the dose Lilly starts with in their trails. Currently on 8mg.

It is a common mistake and he will likely be just fine since that is a standard starting point in clinical trials. Just keep an eye on him for a few days and proceed slowly once things stabilize.

You can use glp1plotter.com to determine when you want to resume pinning again. It seems like serum levels will drop to around 1mg on 18 May - not sure the reason behind microdosing, but I would pin 1mg on 18 May. Of course you can wait longer until 30 May when serum levels are around 0.25mg as well. I started on 1mg and I'm currently on 5mg.

If it's too much for him, he may experience nausea, diarrhea, or constipation which will resolve in a couple of days. The bigger problem is that he will be reluctant to continue because of these temporary symptoms. Go slow and symptom free.

This isn't semaglutide, which starts at 0.25mg. Retatrutide starts at 2mg

It’s practically a nothing burger of an issue… he took 2.5mg instead of the typical 2mg of Reta. People react differently, but the likelihood he's some super responder where a 25% extra dose will make a meaningful difference to the symptoms of the typical 2mg dose seems pretty low.


It's all wildly more than starting at .5mg/week, but that's another issue.

It's nothing like the poor woman that took 7.5mg of Cagri for her starting dose. She's in for a ride.

The dose you gave was not the wrong dose, the dose you planned to give of 0.25 was the wrong dose. 2.5mg is close enough to the standard drug company start dose of 2mg. Yes it is possible there might be side effects but starting at 0.25mg does not eliminate that chance, it just delays it, and maybe makes them milder or less sudden. Starting at doses 1/8th of standard really is mostly a waste of time and effort. If you want to start extra carefully 1mg might make sense, but not 0.25mg.
That being said being off on a dose by a factor of 10 is a very common mistake, and it is important not to make that error. If you gave 20mg instead of 2 as a starting dose, side effects could be very severe, so please double and triple check dose calculations and then use one of the online peptide calculators to triple check dilutions and doses.

Idk...I had issues at 2mg. Had I started at 2.5mg instead of 0.5, who knows what kind of shape I would have been in. I'm still want to know what happened because I just GOTTA know. 😁

What's the big deal here? He got .5mg more than the recommended starting dose. I don't know where everyone is getting this .25 and .5mg starting doses, but I'd like to know. When I was researching Reta for months before deciding to start, I didn't see those dose amounts anywhere. All I saw was 2mg. I read a boat load before starting, but never on Reddit.

Update! He felt generally fine Saturday but he has acid reflux and it was bad yesterday (sunday) morning. He felt very full and bloated all day and had a hard time eating much. This morning he's nauseous and overnight he felt like his body was having a panic attack (maybe increased heart rate?). He's also hot and cold. So the effects aren't awful, but he isn't pleased. 😆

Meanwhile, my son and I took 0.25 mg (well, probably .3 because it's easier to measure) and we both have felt full much faster, but otherwise nothing else really.

I read for about 2-3 months before starting, including reddit, and it seemed starting very small and splitting doses to twice a week could mitigate side effects. We are not trying to lose fast, no more than 2 lbs a week.
