Title says it all. We hit her with a out 5mcg of oxytocin. She took it like a champ, didn't seem bothered at all. Seemed quite comfortable after receiving the dose too. It's about 5 minutes later now and she's munching on a cookie.

Justification: A healthy female rabbit can produce 15 to upwards of 30 litters in a lifetime. Our bunny has only had one litter, she was pregnant when I got ahold of her, and unfortunately none of her kits made it.

I have helped raise rabbits over the years, and the sweet ones that liked to be held and played with were all mama bunnies.

Our bunny lives a great life as a free range house rabbit, her diet consists of spring mix, baby carrots, fresh hay, alfalfa pellets, seed stick, freeze dried fruits, bananas, rabbit treats, and whatever me and my dad think will be funny to give her. She's quite fond of corn chips and pepperonis.

But, she's a very skittish rabbit and doesn't seek out much attention unless she's begging for food.

We would like her to be a little more social, so we're gonna try daily doses of oxytocin combined with cuddling and food to see if we can reinforce prosocial behaviors and change her temperament.

It's about ten minutes later now and she's hopping around the living room, begging for food, grooming herself like usual. After the injection, Mom reported that she closed her eyes for a minute or so while she was being petted. Might be the oxytocin rush.

She's a very hormonal critter. Sometimes she goes through periods where she seeks out more attention, and sometimes she gets extremely skittish and engages in more anxious nesting behavior than usual.

Interested to see what happens. She just finished grooming herself and stretched out to relax with us in the family room.

Obviously, I did the research regarding dosing. Diluted ~100-150mcg into one ML and then injected 5-6 units of that. I'm sure a few of you will Chime in with your Gemini/ChatGPT/Claude results too 😛

I'm no bunny, but it will take a lot more than oxytocin to make me more social than I am. I felt a rush of euphoria on my very first dose, but the effects wore off quite soon after. I still pin eod. She's a sweet little one. I hope she's ok - not sure how rabbits metabolize these things.

I know the feeling. I wish there was a viable alternative to benzodiazepines or calcium channel blockers for social anxiety.

Yes, it's quite short lived, however I believe there's evidence to suggest that it does cause slight improvement to eye contact and other social behaviors even though it might not feel as pronounced as, say, a stimulant or psychedelic.

The same way that we do. DSIP was actually discovered in the brains of rabbits. We're really not that distant from rabbits, dogs, and cats.

Oxytocin is naturally released in rabbits during childbirth and breastfeeding just like in humans, and exogenous doses have been studied in veterinary research as well.

My theory is that rabbits are a lot simpler than we are and thus more hormonally governed. Especially since they're so geared towards reproduction in the wild. Like I said, our bunny has hormonal episodes and can act very strange for weeks on end. Want to see if the oxytocin can make her feel that special something that she may be missing – that something usually shared between a boy rabbit and a girl rabbit.

Well, there are beta blockers, but again it is a "blocker" nonetheless. I take propranolol and it seems to work well. But my issue is that I don't like most people and prefer most animals, most of the time, and no blocker is going to fix that.

Hm. I'll count how long I can make eye contact before I look away after my next dose.

Any possibility she has PDD, or introducing a boy rabbit for a natural oxy boost?

Beta blockers are great for lowering heart rate and physiological adrenaline response, great for blood pressure too. But that's about it.

I've had luck with ashwaghanda, mixed with CBD, kanna, and blue lotus. But that's for a once in a while treat. Getting boozed up is leagues better for making friends.

I'd use the stuff a lot more often if I had a romantic partner. Or even friends. Sounds like a ton of fun to use before sex or cuddling, but as it stands I just don't have a need for it.

No lol. She's happy and healthy, just skittish.

No lol. One house rabbit is more than enough.
