I'm a cat!! I never thought to search for "cat" in a GLP1 forum, unless of course I searched for "my cat ate my tirz, what do I do?". That would not be a good day. Amazing stuff. I must find it now.

I did it on a random Saturday when I was feeling a little bored and in the mood for harmless internet fuckery. I genuinely expected at least ten people to totally disregard the arbitrary rules I proclaimed and make fun of me for proclaiming them. I was so surprised and delighted when it became a whole thing. There has since been a dog thread, and more recently, a horse thread. I don't think the bird people will stay silenced much longer and look forward to seeing the group's parrots and chickens and ducks.

Yes, the search feature works great, but there really isn't anything awful about asking these questions, getting some feedback and learning a bit about the peeps this community.

I think you're the sweetest person, and I adore you. And also, I loathe posts like this (the thread, NOT your comment) and I'm glad people had things to say about it. I had many questions when I was new. So I searched, and if I couldn't find a clear answer, I went to a thread that was close to what I was looking for, and asked if someone could clarify (the thing I didn't understand on that topic.) I still do that. I asked a crypto question the other day that way.

If I post my own thread, it's because what I was looking for didn't show up in a search, and I'm either asking for resources or experience on one specific thing that seems to be obscure. I asked about DIY botox resources the other day (and got an answer from someone I "know" and like) and whether there was yet a good peptide for smoking cessation (not yet) cause those searches didn't turn up the answers I wanted. And I also contribute in this community, and until I did, I kept my requests for people's labor low.

I find it rude to just blare a common question to ten thousand people; it's basically saying to them, "my time is much too valuable to browse for the easy to find information I desire, please type it all out for me now and put it directly in from of my eyes where I have directed you to place it. Also, I am a stranger who will likely contribute nothing, because I feel super okay demanding labor I could have done but chose to ask y'all to do, as though I was owed it." And to call that a "dialogue" is offensive and selfish.

I can imagine. I used to work with a lady from Canada who was a big animal rights activist and I'd just try to think of things to trigger her, just for fun. But one day I made up a crazy story about using baby seal blubber to solve the energy crisis and she totally freaked out on me, I mean screaming and crying freaked out and I was condemned as the most horrible person she ever met. Oops...

I think a big part of what's really going on when people do that sort of thing is that they've become accustomed to communicating with AI chatbots, and think this is some sort of extended-format version of that.

Seeing your Southpark avatar reminded me of something from when my wife and I first started dating.

She was spending the night with me and we were in bed watching TV. I put it on Southpark and my wife had never seen it before. It was the episode where the Japanese go to the aquarium and kill all the dolphins.

The look on my wife's face was priceless. She just sat there in total stunned disbelief and looked at me and was like 'what???...' and I was laughing so hard that my sides were hurting. F a u whares and f a u dopheens! LOL!

My wife was like 'this is terrible! OMG, what???' and I was still laughing to hard I couldn't speak.

I agree with @HereKittyKitty . In another life, I taught a skill that lots of adults would love to have, and a conclusion I've come to is that humans by and large love having useful skills and knowledge, but hate putting in the mental work to attain those. So if they're not used to the process of self-teaching, they just show up and expect/demand to have skills and knowledge passively spooned into their brains with as little of their own effort as humanly possible. By a knowledgeable person who is doing it JUST for them, and right now. And their role is to sit still and announce their desire like baby birds and NOTHING else.

It pissed me off back then, even more so because the skill I was teaching was one that CAN'T be taught but can only be learned (I was there to provide the baseline info, conduct and clarify the exercises, and correct it if I saw something dangerous happen). It still irritates me.

Today it took me only a couple of minutes to provide 3 similar current or recent threads about stacking reta/tirz to someone asking what dosage would be.

I remember being a kid in school and the teacher asking "did you try looking it up?"
Anybody else remember teachers saying that?
I would imagine learning skills are still being taught, but I haven't been in a classroom in awhile.

I wouldn't say that is uniformly accurate. Lazy, entitled and a little bit arrogant about it? Maybe ya reap what ya sow. Come into a community with a little humility and grace, I'd say it is a warmer welcome than many online communities of which I've been a member over the years.

It also costs not one cent to at least perform a cursory search before asking to be handfed like an abandoned monkey.

For the record, if an abandoned monkey came around wanting to be handfed, I would give him my entire lunch. I'd name him Mr Barnacles and he would ride around on my shoulder and be my little best friend. I'd walk into bars with him, and people would say "Whoa, what a cute monkey!" and I would say "thank you, he certainly is."
