Local Pittsburgh news station ran a story about how some crook figured out how to steal currency in transit. Seems some folks tried to send currency and it got picked off before its destination. Any other folks out there hear anything. Be carefu l! !

Can you point me to the news story? Google doesn't identify a recent Pittsburgh news story outside of a Transit Rail ransomware attack.
My wife relayed it I'm thinking it was on WPXI that's channel 11 in Pittsburgh I'm at work haven't checked their site. They post recent news stories there. I will text her to verify.

I looked they're bashing them both only thing I found was people who didn't know how to send correctly kind off a bunch of negatively. No real proof of intentional theft. Just hype.

If you send money to the correct Zelle / Venmo it's going to end up in the correct Zelle / Venmo
The story seemed more geared to whom your paying with using pay apps. I only got a glimpse, they must have moved it for breaking news. Clark Howard I found was the reporter on the subject. Just wanted to check with the good folks here to see if anything came up on the forum radar. Thanks for the input. My wife worries, I look like a total scammer target to her. She's not wrong 😆

Seems like typical negligent "reporting" designed to instill fear in people who don't know better to stay locked in their basement and never pay anyone for anything ever using an online platform.

The fact that this isn't a top story on every news outlet in the country is the first indication that the "facts" (at least as you described them) aren't the least bit accurate. If someone was intercepting Zelle and Venmo payments before reaching their intended recipients, everyone would be talking about it.

Agreed from the responses here I believe this guy reporting this nonsense is just padding his ask Clark segment. I've asked around in other friend circles and they too heard nothing beyond this Isolated incident. I had to ask safety in numbers they say✌️
