It really depends-
If you do not name the person and only the method I would imagine it is fine to share.

I am sure part of your, and others, restriction is to avoid begging, false accusations, and shilling.

So listing the method should not be an issue as long as you don't fall into those categories.

in cyber security the number one threat is the user.

This is why one of the main mitigating factors is training staff how not to be fooled.

I imagine the same applies to this if it a generalization of a scamming strategy.

IE: never trust a DM'd link

I feel like the ratio of scammers to non scammers is large enough that knowing more helps more then harms. Knowing the scams just makes it more work for the people scamming to come up with new things.
 
Someone else must agree a little, that there is s little risk of talking about the scam? I will probably spill the beans, with how, not who. But I think I need to be convinced. I may go to bed, and sleep on it. It's so simple, that anyone could go out there and try to scam any newcomer. It just takes an opertunity.

Yes!!! Sounds weird...If everyone knows the scam then everyone will know what to look out for. Kind of like learning a magic trick that fooled everyone for years. Then someone tells.the secret. Once you know what to look for, it's no longer magic or a (scam). I've been ripped off a few times in life. The more everyone knows how, the more everyone knows what to look for. Send it out and help us all. This community is legit, with plenty of personalities, but I truly believe most are genuinely trying to learn and help others.
 
So is it really better to let people continue to be scammed in the name of silence to prevent scammers from learning the scam? If this is something truly unique, and I have my doubts, I think you should explain the process here to prevent additional scams. The community has enough outlets to get the word out and prevent many more additional victims. Of course, people get scammed everyday anyway by the old scams, but if it's a particularly novel approach, most people will find out before it happens. Forewarned is forearmed.

It is not a sign of weakness just ignorance that causes scams, at anytime someone can make a mistake, even seasoned professionals fall for some.

If you save one person or leave 1 scammer broke, it is worth sharing.

I got to say, this has annoyed me. I’m always curious how people get scammed, because if you buy from a vendor with a history, it seems hard other than the occasional exit scam. Then all I read was some dude talking about fear of how to teach the scammers.
 
New members with the red No Source Discussion Banner do not have a good track record posting about scams here. You are treading on thin ice.

You need to slow down and do lots more reading before you go on with this.

It won't let me post in the scamwatch when I have screenshots of the biggest vendor here scamming. Why can't I post? How are these vendors held up to accountabilty? I've been on the forum nearly 6 months yet am still restricted and can't report scams, that's wild.
