But then again, I don't want to give anyone ideas. Is this wrong of me? I learned from the process. Now I probably won't be scammed again in that same way. Grey is a risk, for a lot of reasons. Remember don't pay what you can't lose.

Spill it . We don't Judge. I would learn from it. If it's allowed to post that is.

I'm also not sure if it is allowed to post. Does anyone know?

What if a soon to be scammer learns also? I may make more scammers.

I've been exit scammed after several successful purchases from a vendor on another form. Sucks to lose on $400+ but you live and learn.

It really depends-
If you do not name the person and only the method I would imagine it is fine to share.

I am sure part of your, and others, restriction is to avoid begging, false accusations, and shilling.

So listing the method should not be an issue as long as you don't fall into those categories.

You can say the how just not the who

Is it better, for more people to know how to scam? No. Teaching you how not to get scammed is good, but what are others intentions?
in cyber security the number one threat is the user.

This is why one of the main mitigating factors is training staff how not to be fooled.

I imagine the same applies to this if it a generalization of a scamming strategy.

IE: never trust a DM'd link

I feel like the ratio of scammers to non scammers is large enough that knowing more helps more then harms. Knowing the scams just makes it more work for the people scamming to come up with new things.

Someone else must agree a little, that there is s little risk of talking about the scam? I will probably spill the beans, with how, not who. But I think I need to be convinced. I may go to bed, and sleep on it. It's so simple, that anyone could go out there and try to scam any newcomer. It just takes an opertunity.

Your saying: absolutely, it's better to teach people how to scam!
Yes!!! Sounds weird...If everyone knows the scam then everyone will know what to look out for. Kind of like learning a magic trick that fooled everyone for years. Then someone tells.the secret. Once you know what to look for, it's no longer magic or a (scam). I've been ripped off a few times in life. The more everyone knows how, the more everyone knows what to look for. Send it out and help us all. This community is legit, with plenty of personalities, but I truly believe most are genuinely trying to learn and help others.

So is it really better to let people continue to be scammed in the name of silence to prevent scammers from learning the scam? If this is something truly unique, and I have my doubts, I think you should explain the process here to prevent additional scams. The community has enough outlets to get the word out and prevent many more additional victims. Of course, people get scammed everyday anyway by the old scams, but if it's a particularly novel approach, most people will find out before it happens. Forewarned is forearmed.

I'm positive this scam gets others. It's the one that's warned about the most. Every experienced person, now know what it is.

It is not a sign of weakness just ignorance that causes scams, at anytime someone can make a mistake, even seasoned professionals fall for some.

If you save one person or leave 1 scammer broke, it is worth sharing.

IMHO

Why am I not finding more posts about how the scams work? Is it becouse they are removed? Or am I just not finding them?

You wanna post about being scammed and not share details. You're scared that scammers will see it and copy it but trust most scammers are ahead of the game, you aint teaching them new tricks.

Why even bother posting that you got scammed.
