I’m a male in my 30s and in 2018 I had a gastric sleeve procedure for weight-loss. It took a lot of work and it was very successful. My life improved exponentially. I have been able to keep most of the weight off by making major changes in lifestyle. I eat way better and exercise regularly. However, it’s common for the stomach to expand a little bit over time. Also even if I eat healthy meals I feel like my metabolism is stupid low. Obesity runs deep in both sides of my family and I think my main issue is portion control. Although my meals mainly consist of grilled chicken, fish, lean meats, and a wide range of vegetables I think my issue is portion sizes. If I don’t eat enough I get hungry at night and literally wake up. I’m cursed with insomnia and being a light sleeper. If I don’t go eat something I can’t sleep. Over time I gained about 20lbs. A year ago my pcp prescribed me with semaglutide and I got back to my goal weight. However, once he took me off, I slowly started having the same issue. I find myself having to eat more and I’m slowly creeping back to being over my goal weight. Right now I’m like 15lbs over. I know it might not seem like a lot but I need just a boost again to help me get back on track. I do concede that maybe I am paranoid of going back to my pre-surgery weight. I was 150lbs overweight. My quality of life was awful back then and I am terrified of falling back into that pit. My pcp refused to give me a prescription because he says weight fluctuates, but I know my body. Anyway, since my pcp said no, I feel that finding other alternatives is the best way to go. I am beyond grateful that I was able to find this group. Earlier today I placed an order with one of the US based providers mentioned in this forum and I can’t wait to see how it works out. Thank you!

This really frustrates me. Do these PCMs not realize that they are hurting their patients when they do not LISTEN to them? What is the harm in giving you the script?

Glad you're here, OP.

The good news is you've been evaluated by a doctor who approved Semaglutide. You're just getting your own. Not everybody has to consider or value a doctor's opinion but for people with complications such as gastric surgery or in my case transplant it's important. So you got that! Now get your cheapest (yet effective) option Sema and look into Tirz (maybe?) for a potentially more comfortable ride through maintenance.

Thank you for your comment! I will definitely look into Tirz. I guess I never thought of it in terms of maintenance. Gosh I’m so grateful I found this group.

I think once we've returned to "normal" size we might recognize the other benefits of GLPs ranging from better labs to reduced inflammation or simply the dosing routine either keeps us focused or is necessary for maintenance. My partner is taking low dose tirzepatide for the other benefits. He doesn't need to lose weight but is an avid hiker.

Welcome. I too had bariatric surgery but wasn't as successful as yours. Kuddo's in being proactive.

The hikers in Phoenix are more than avid. They are insane, hiking on closed mountain trails when it is 110+ degrees. The trails are often closed due to the summer heat. I feel sorry for the firefighters who have to rescue them.
