I have recently begun semaglutide use received from an online weight loss program, but this isn’t my first use of this type of medication. In 2018 I was prescribed Trulicity, which, along with diet and exercise, helped me go from the 240’s (lbs) to the 170’s. In 2020 my prescription was changed to Ozempic, which I stayed on until 2023 when my insurance stopped coverage because I am not diabetic. My physician then prescribed Wegovy, but that was also rejected by insurance because even though my weight had crept to the 190’s, I wasn’t obese. Now here we are, two years later, and I am back to the 230’s, and back on the GLP-1 bus.

I joined this forum to learn about GLP-1 usage, hear others’ stories, and share my experience. I work in healthcare, and am committed to safety and harm reduction.

Glad you found this place. In my opinion, for me these are lifetime meds. I can't imagine having it taken away like.

Fear of losing access to semaglutide or similar medications is one reason that I started reading various GLP-1 forums. I have a couple of medical conditions that seem to be seen as contraindications to GLP-1 use. I say that because the first two online programs I tried to join rejected me. I was accepted by the third, but I did not reveal said conditions. I am concerned that they will drop me as a patient if they find out.

However, I don’t see these conditions as a safety hazard, even though the mention of at least one of them caused instant rejection. The physician that prescribed Ozempic to me in the past was and still is treating me for one of the conditions, and is aware of my medical history. He had no problem prescribing Ozempic and Wegovy to be picked up at the local CVS, but I don’t know how comfortable he would be ordering compounded medications.
