I know I know.
Im losing weight steadily, so whats the purpose.
Im not trying to speed run weight loss.

I have historically done 5-7 day fasts quarterly and have always felt I reaped benefits from it.

Im going to be on reta for the next 5 years at least.
My body is going to fight my new weight with all its might, and im going to need long term help with that.

But I really dont want to give up my quarterly food retreats.
I also dont want to go hypoglycemic. Thats terrifying.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I wouldn't do it, too large a risk of going low IMO. I mean, until you get to your end weight, why are you worrying about having to counter with fasting? You might do just fine on a lower dose.

The fasting isn't for countering anything. Its for general health.
I absolutely have seen great skin and gut and even cardiovascular improvement from 5-7 days of fasting quarterly

I've done 7 day fasts before. I personally wouldn't do one on reta or tirz.

I’m not sure I think it’s a good idea either. Since I’ve started Reta, I tend to eat pretty clean. Getting higher quality nutrition and also ensuring I’m taking vitamins and collagen daily. I can’t tell you how much that has helped. The body aches have diminished to almost nothing.

I haven't done a fast on reta, but I was on Mounjaro from October 2024 to just recently and I didn't have an issue fasting. I did it on 15mg. I did notice that I really needed to be mindful of supplements - potassium, b-12, magnesium, etc. I also did not fast 100% strict - I would drink a sugar free Liquid IV electrolyte mix every day - not the entire packet, but maybe 1/3 to 1/2 of it. That was enough to keep my body happy and prevented the low energy and headaches that can sometimes accompany fasting.

I am on reta now and plan to try fasting in the future - FWIW I only ever did 36:12... never longer than that.
