Hospira BAC Availability

This is, in my opinion, the second best thing to hospira bac.

Same here I can get the same 20ml hospira sterile water for free at work, maybe I will give your idea a try.

If I had unlimited access to free Hospira sterile water, I'd skip trying to add BAC to it and instead use sterile water. In Europe I think that's all they use for injections is sterile water, correct me if I am wrong.
And at the Hospital that I work sterile or sodium chloride are the most common ways of reconstitution.

Is it ok for you? That's a question only you can answer.

Me, I have no issue using expired bac mainly because it's ingredients don't expire. Ever. We would all be dead if they did. Plus they are sealed in a sterile container/environment so until that first puncture there is no reason it wouldn't be as safe as the day it was bottled.

OK cool. I found some that are going to expire in 2026 but I wouldn't go through them that quick. Glad to hear others are using them that long.

How long once it's punctured? I know it says 28 days but I've seen other go longer.

If I was working in healthcare, then while fulfilling my duties I would use the BAC water only if I was acting according to the instructions on the label. Since I don't work in healthcare, I'll exercise my own judgment. Pfizer/Hospira BAC water is approved to be given intravenously, a much risker thing than a subcutaneous injection, and may be given to people with weak immune systems. Because neither benzoyl alcohol nor water are likely to go bad when stored in a vial that has been sealed with the contents inside by the factory, I have every intention of continuing to use my case of Hospira vials ater after their expiration date passes.

Same here in the US, but in the hospital setting nearly everything is one time use. Puncture once and dispose. That is why healthcare workers have access to sterile water but NOT to bac water. If I weren't multi dosing from my vials I would def use sterile water.

In Europe, folks generally use sterile water instead of BAC water. They similarly create a vial and don't throw it out immediately. Janoshik said the longest he has kept a vial is somewhere between 6-8 weeks.

I'm not advocating against the general advice to use BAC water; I use it myself. But I'd consider sterile water if I can't find BAC. (I have enough BAC water for the next few years.)

I'm intrigued honestly, and am doing some digging to get to the bottom of it. I mean personally it sounds as though Benzyl Alcohol isn't something your body is probably fond of anyway, and if sterile water will work I'd like to know! If only there were sterility strips to test for sterility like there are pH strips lol.

Oh I've read it, I've seen his opinion on sterile vs bac, and he's a reasonable source, there's just not enough substance there for it to sway me. If he had mentioned he did sterility testing, e.g. after so many days of Bac vs Sterile used to reconstitute I'd give it more weight.

Based upon what he said, the impression I have is that he knows that sterile water works and that he doesn't really know for BAC water. I continue to use BAC water. I do believe, however, that if there was no BAC water available, sterile water could be used for a multiple use peptide vial.
 
It is impossible to source bac water in Europe. I have someone traveling from the US. Is it ok to transport a couple of vials in checked baggage or carry on?
 
TSA doesn't really care about prescriptions. Fluids in checked baggage are fine, and even carry on would be fine since BAC water is only 30 mL each.

For customs in the destination country, I guess it would be fine. Worst case is they would toss it, which is the case in the US for incoming BAC in the mail, if detected.

Of course, another option is to just have it mailed.

Then you're not using Hospira BAC. "The semi-rigid vial is fabricated from a specially formulated polyolefin. It is a copolymer of ethylene and propylene. The safety of the plastic has been confirmed by tests in animals according to USP biological standards for plastic containers. The container requires no vapor barrier to maintain the proper labeled volume."
BACTERIOSTATIC WATER- bacteriostatic water injection, solution, Hospira, Inc., Product Insert.

Although my Hospira is contained in plastic vials, I do plan on using the vials even after the expiration date has passed.

I have never seen a plastic bottle that bears an expiration or beyond use date for the bottle specifically, and would be fascinated if you could share some examples.

From a theoretical standpoint, yes, there could be concerns about plastic degradation and leaching over time, especially in unstable or harsh environments where exposure to things like UV radiation etc. could be problematic. However, not only has Pfizer/Hospira specifically engineered the plastic in their MDV's to be extremely robust, but recent Jano tests of Hospira BAC that expired over 10 years ago (I'm actually thinking it might have been more like 15 years ago) showed perfectly intact BAC water with zero contaminants so ultimately - at least in regard to Hospira BAC - the theory is a non-issue.

I haven't either but they do say not to use a syringe after the expiration date and glass vials as the plastic/rubber supposedly degrades. I don't know if its actually true or not.
