Should I stack tirz and reta, or just use reta?

Hi. Been taking mounjaro (tirz) 15mg for last 6 months and stalled completely so ordered Reta as I am now obsessed with doing weights and it seems a better fit. Probably have around 10kg of fat still to lose but want to hammer the weights as well which can get conflicting as need calories to grow muscle. Really thought about an immediate switch to Reta 2mg and stopping tirz at same time ie swap. Then I thought why not take 5mg tirz for say 5weeks with the 2mg Reta after reading a few forums on here rather than going cold turkey in the tirz. Interested in any feedback on the 2 options as decision to be made 1 week today 😄 and I’m so undecided although won’t lie temped in the take both for 5 weeks to minimise food noise.

Decision time and I appreciate it’s mine to make but feedback most welcome

Cheers all for the great informative discussions that go down daily on here, love it 👏👏

I am stacking both, and it is working well. The tirz kills my appetite, the reta is driving weightloss and gives more energy than tirz alone.

Thanks. I know keangkong suggested sticking with full dose of tirz and gradually introduce Reta but although appreciate this advice I’m not really wanting to go 15 + 2. All be maybe reducing my tirz to 5 while adding 2mg Reta may not be sufficient. Maybe somewhere in middle.

Could I ask what your stack mix is if you don’t mind and do you separate the 2 once a week but split etc?

Its best to tweak and see.. I am at 3mg Tirz and 2.75 Reta, averaged week, I split these into doses every 3 days on staggered days. 1.2 R and 1.1R. I suggest starting low on Reta and then adding more bit by bit, because it does raise your heart rate. mine varies between 63 and 80 at rest..

i've been on terzepatide since July and currently on 12.5mg. Recently purchased reta and took 1mg 4 days after the terzepatide dose. I'm thinking of upping the reta dose whilst reducing the terzepatide.

Thanks Juliana I think I’m going to drop to 7.5mg with 1mg Reta for a few weeks and get the lay of the land then take it from there. Ideally don’t want to be long term doubling GLP peps. The end goal for me is to switch completely from Tirz to Reta and hopefully maintain around the 8mg Reta long term. I guess everybody reacts differently as these forums and threats clearly indicate. Would love to know how your journey progresses and happy to share mine. Thanks again

A lot of people find that Reta doesnt kill the appetite/food noise like Tirz does, until you get to higher doses.

You're on an introductory dose of the most proven effective FDA approved drug for weightloss. If you paid Lily's price for Tirz you'd be taking this more seriously and not having FOMO.

Another vote for sticking with the Tirz.
I am an inbetweener, so I am not sure this logic applies. My Tirz is a brand name but has been free most of the year because a spouse's triple bypass maxed out our deductible/out of pocket. With 2026 looming, I am looking at options. I have slowly lost 30-40 pounds, but it appears I have plateaued. At 260lbs,I want to go further. Would you vote to continue Tirz (but from a more reasonable source) or jump to Reta. 7.5mg is my current dosage. Also a Type 2 diabetic and Tirz this has been a miracle for my A1C. Thank you!

I don't know the answer; I don't have diabetes myself. However, I do worry about you stopping the reta and starting a low dose (so you'll be able to tolerate it) of reta, and your diabetes being untreated. You could start at a higher dose of retatrutide, however, since it works on GCGR and agonizes GIP more strongly than tirz, that's a risky proposition. I'd say talk to your doctor, but I'm not sure your doctor will be much help: The doctor can't exactly recommend you take a non-FDA approved drug.

If you do start taking reta, you might want to start very slowly while leaving the tirz dosage the same. Then ramp up super slowly on the reta, checking to make sure your blood sugar stays good. I should have avoided answering this question since I don't know anything about diabetes.
