Anyone hear of j5 (Jonny 5) and/or P.A.E.?

I've heard a few on j5 but not through here.....

I use J5 almost exclusively these days, and probably will for as long as he's still in business. I've been looking at some others lately (including PAE), but J5 ticks every one of my "this is what I need" boxes.

Didn’t J5 send an email out to like 400+ people, cc’ing all of them to include their names and emails?
He did indeed, and recently. He was of course horrified, and says he won't be sending out any other emails until he's set up a marketing email app or something that doesn't require humans remembering to do or not do a thing, but I feel like that's a mistake that any vendor could make at any time, and it really should NOT be. He's the second vendor in like a month to do that, and we're at the mercy of people who aren't trained in mass communications, and man that sucks.

Well, I tapped out of using GBs a year ago, but with so many other vendors, that kind of sloppiness is a X in my book.

I respect that. I am SO frustrated by it, because no vendor should be doing mass mails in a way that requires them to not make a mistake that's easy to make (pasting the emails onto the BCC line is too dangerous. It is WAY too easy to accidentally hit the CC or To line in a moment of distraction). AND the way that I know that is because I'm trained in mass communications, and I know that there's zero chance that most vendors have "mass communications training" as part of their journey to become a vendor, so the only way most of them will learn it is by doxing their customer base with no recourse except knowing they feel real, real bad about it and will take steps to make sure it doens't happen twice.

And in the J5 accident, not even using a for-grey-only email would have helped those who got hit, because his paste had names AND emails, and you of course give your name on the shipping part. And any vendor with a mailing list could do it, and there's just no great way that I can see to protect yourself, and I hate it so much.

This was news to me, but I agree that J5 won't make the same mistake again:

It went out to only one of my five distribution lists. All of which have been permanently deleted and no more bulk emails will be sent from me before a service has been set up where people sign up to receive them. Still deeply disappointed in myself for the mistake and understand the ramifications.

Yep--I'd say the chances of that happening twice are LESS than with a vendor who HASN'T yet made that mistake. I believe that J5 IS a consciencious dude, maybe even an ethical one, which is one of the reasons I really prefer to buy from him.

How can I buy from this consciousness, ethical dude?
Check your DM's. Also, to future peeps who are reading this in a search, please check the date of these comments, because today's consciencious, possibly even ethical dude can sometimes be tomorrow's drama-thread read and what's true today may not be true in a year.
