hi all! I wanted to share some before and after pics of my natural weight loss. I started at 416lbs and was so miserable. I was so ashamed of myself that I don't even have pictures of myself from my highest weight. I focused on a calorie deficit and working out 3-4 times a week and dropped to 265lbs in a year!! I was so proud of myself.

Unfortunately, I gained about 40 total lbs back and am currently hovering around 299lbs. The after pics are at my lowest weight of 265. I started reta recently and my food noise as well as appetite are nearly eliminated.

I have a long way to go but I'm hopeful for the future.

Just wanted to share some of my journey to stay motivated and keep on keeping on

FUCK YEAH OP

I love reading this shit, people who learn to lose weight by training their themselves and learning new habits rather than just relying on drugs

I started at 200 and eventually got down to 160 over three years by learning healthy eating habits and exercise no peptides just habitualizing heath. Surely nothing like the journey you’ve been on, but it’s why I resonate with stories like yours.

I fucking love reading this type of shit. You made big fucking progress. Honestly you are going to be 5x better person since you changed your habits before starting the GLP.

So many people who take these things rely only on the GLP and never actually learned the habits that are required to keep the weight off…

So many people start a GLP, use it as a crutch to lose weight, never internalize any different eating or exercise habits, and then rebound right back when they stop the GLP.

You’re a different type. You learned what you needed to do first to sustain your health, started to turn things around and then are using glp1 to accelerate your progress.

You deserve this.

That's awesome. Two questions. How tall are you and how much Reta are you doing currently?
thank you!

i’m 5’4” and i started on 1mg about two weeks ago. I have not had any negative side effects which I was nervous about. I can’t believe the effects on food noise tho. Today I caught myself not eating until like 1pm because I was doing schoolwork and didn’t get hungry at all or even think about eating. I think that will be the tough part for me. I am working on building muscle as well so gotta keep my protein up!

Thank you so much man! I honestly still look in the mirror and see my 400lb self sometimes. After being obese my entire life and working with a therapist, I realized I have never even given myself a chance. If someone said I was pretty, I automatically think and say “no!” or if someone asks me what I’m good at I will automatically say “nothing”.

I pride myself in being empathetic to others and spreading kindness so this realization was a lot to me. I’m never going to be able to hate myself enough to sustainably lose the weight and “feel better”. I’m working hard on being kind to myself as well as others and realizing I am worth it! I appreciate your reply so much.

Great job! With Reta, you will be unstoppable. Dialing in diet and exercise is the hardest part--you have that.

I had a similar experience in that I lost a lot of weight without any meds--only effort, sacrifice, working out and sheer will power--I was probably not fun to be around some times. But I got stuck and couldn't lose any more even though I was eating very little. I was insulin resistant, pre-diabetic and had high cholesterol and hypertension. I then went on tirzpepatide and the weight just starting melting off, much faster and easier than just starving myself--and the big difference was that I wasn't miserable while losing weight. I have almost reached my goal weight now and plan to switch to maintenance mode soon. I am no longer pre-diabetic, my cholesterol is great, and my blood pressure is way down. Feels like a miracle drug.

You should be very proud of yourself--You got this!

Keep in mind, building muscle adds weight, so that may effect your loss. Stay on a certain dose 4 weeks for your body to get used to it. I'm on 8mg with minimal sides, beside being and feeling full. Keep up the good work.

I (68F) have lost nearly 200 pounds five or six times in my life as an endocrine-imbalanced woman. DOING THAT RUINED MY HEART and am now paying the price.

Losing weight is NOT about will power nor Calories. Diets work. Until They Don't and you rebound, damaging your body systems.

That is why we rejoice at the knowledge and acceptance of the GLP-1 class of drugs that finally gets to the root of the problem with a medication that treats a chronic illness. These are life-time medications. Period.

Don't be fooled. If you were born with a fucked-up metabolism, there is no diet that will help over the rest of your life. So glad you have found the GLP-1s.

Congratulations on your success.

Having been obese most of my life and fought against it and got down to normal weight several times only to put it back on again, I would just like to encourage the use of GLP drugs. Losing weight without them is definitely possible, what is really much harder as you have experienced recently is keeping the weight off longer term. At least with GLP drugs like reta, so long as you stay on them long term, hopefully you only have to lose the weight once, and they will help look after the keeping it off long term part. Everything I have read says the weight loss is maintained for years with no signs of weight increase for at least 4 years so far, and eventually there will be even longer term studies.

I lost most of my weight from 145 kg to 75 kg without medication and kept it there for a year, but it was pretty hard going, even knowing that there were fairly serious medical risks were I to regain the weight. A year later , GLP drugs made a huge difference to overall hunger, how little I had to eat to feel full, cravings for unhealthy foods etc and has made it much easier to keep the weight off, and given me some confidence there is a good chance I can keep it that way.

I am not going to suggest you should increase doses any more quickly than the standard recipe, and if the levels of hunger and weight loss are fine at lower doses then lower doses are fine, but given you want to lose and keep off a lot of weight, most likely you are going to need to push the dose up to 12mg eventually, ( assuming side effects are not a problem ) and nearly everyone on here always emphasises the lowest dose possible approach, I would say this is not the correct approach for severe obesity. And the higher doses of reta do have some metabolism boosting effects that make large weight losses easier and more likely, as well as probably having better long term health benefits than lower doses.

Good progress. I tip my hat for dropping that much on your own will. The road with meds might be shorter than you think. Many outside view is as 'cheating' -- my position : it is a tool to achieve a goal. A few people I know told me 'you are cheating'. In response, I suggested they get rid of their cars and walk, eat with their hands, or turn off their air conditioner 🙂

That aside though -- I also had people I know go a bit overboard with not eating and for a few women -- they had hair coming out in clumps after. I'm not a doctor, but will point at something that can help you in your own research : your body can only absorb a limited number of calories per day from fat. Run those tables for yourself , and do your research.

You can do this! Gain as much info as possible. I got up to 318lbs, now at 272. Not much but I am focused on progress. No negative thoughts in my brain. I will be where God wants me to be at some point. I truly believe we get where we are, good or bad, because there is a learning opportunity from that. I'm not an expert at all, but I love people and want the best for them. After all, we are all brothers and sisters trying are best. Stay motivated!

265 lbs naturally in a year! That is so amazing and you should be incredibly proud of yourself!!! You’ve done so much hard work and now hopefully losing the last bit will be easier!! 🙌🏼♥️

Bla bla bla. Ya, I’ve spent an entire life dieting and gaining and losing weight. In fact I even lost the weight and kept it off for four years. 45 years of yo yo dieting. As you would say. I’ll take the fucking drugs. And never look back. GLPs are a gift from god.

GREAT JOB! Keep up the work and YOUR POSITIVITY! You will reach your goal! Keep it as your #1 Priority don't let anything or anyone get in your way!
