A 30G, 8mm, .5mL insulin syringe is widely recognized as the standard for normal subcutaneous peptide injections in terms of fluid per dose, comfort, injection depth, and resistance to bending.

12.7mm (1/2″) and 16mm (5/8″) syringes are more commonly used for deep subcutaneous or shallow IM (intramuscular) injection.
