So I’ve only found this forum within the past week and it’s been very helpful! So thank you all for that! The homepage of my phone is already filled with informational websites and pdfs lol.
So I’m sure a group buy/test is the safest route to take, but for those of you that have a vendor you like and stick to, do you still test everything you get from them? I’d imagine that’s pretty costly and maybe unnecessary if you stay in the loop about the vendors standing. Currently I’m most interested in reta but wow, learning about everything there is to offer I may add something else in the mix eventually. So this question goes for every peptide. Just want to know what you guys recommend to mitigate risk.
Thanks 🙂

Group testing is the answer. Vendor standing is meaningless.

But also you could buy 5 kits of reta, test 3 vials and be set for ~$1k

You’re right! As I look around more that honestly seems like the best route. Thank you!

I filter and do my own endotoxin testing at home because it’s so incredibly cheap. I thought about making a post on here because so many folks claim to do the same. I figured out a way to waste less in the filter, recovering nearly all of the peptide - super simple method but I had to figure it out on my own and asked a fellow chemistry nerd if it was smart and he verified that I did what they do in the labs for testing. One issue is that BAC or other excipients can cause out-of-range recovery so you need to adjust the dilution or matrix. It can inhibit or enhance rFC/LAL reactions as well. You need to run the kit’s inhibition/ enhancement (spike-recovery) controls and adjust dilution within the method’s MVD limits per the IFU. I also do sterility and Ph testing of every vial of BAC regardless of source.

edit: by “cheap”, I mean a 192 well single plate is about $5/test and a 1,152 well kit is less than half that price. I bought 50 vials in my last order and use the 1,152 well kit because prepping standard curves, loading controls and workflow is easier with the pre-coated components.

Tell me more… ‘splain it to me like I’m 5

Ultimately it’s about risk probabilities. My supplier seems to be highly tested by 3p, and results are consistently on target and pure. I also chose to filter after reconstituting into vacuum sealed sterile vials. For me this puts it into a probability of risk that I’m comfortable with. I have just begun participating in group tests, more to support the community that assuage my personal risk factor.

I’d do more DIY testing and/or processing if I could. I’d like to figure out how to process raw powder without a million in lab kit.

thank you so much for your response but I, like nathanologist, will need it explained to me like I’m 5 😂 I love to hear that you’re able to do it yourself though. I’d love to!

This is more my speed 😂 can you tell me more about the filtration process or perhaps link me a thread that discusses it? I’m kind of going into this with 0 knowledge
