Has anyone else dealt with some extreme food aversions? I've had food aversions since starting reta, but since titrating up to 7mg/week about 4-5 weeks ago (based on return of food noise and a small stall), it's been incredibly bad. And seems to get worse every week.

The thought of most food repulses me. And not because I don't want to eat.. I do! I want to eat so bad. I'm hungry. My body needs nourishment. But I'll think something sounds good and meal prep it, eat it once or twice, and then the next day the thought of eating it again disgusts me. It makes me want to vomit. When I actually eat, it's like... the thought of eating makes me nauseous, but the actual act of eating is fine, if that makes sense? There have been other times since starting reta where eating or eating too much made me nauseous, but I've never been turned off so much at just the thought of food.

The only thing that doesn't do this to me is fruit. Fruit not only tastes delicious, the thought of it also sounds delicious. But I can't survive off of just fruit, sadly. I can kinda deal with the thought of protein shakes but even that is iffy.

I'm thinking of going an extra day or two before I inject again, to see if that helps. But has anyone else experienced this? How did you get through it? I'm hungry and need advice. 😭

I can’t comment on this on a GLP. But for the last couple years I have struggled with this. I can relate to that feeling. Sometimes the thought of steak makes me so sick and then I wouldn’t be able to eat anything. At some point stuffing some highly palatable garbage down my throat just to get some food in. My wife would be cooking her steak and the smell makes me so sick to where I get a headache and sometimes vomit. It hasn’t been so bad for me on Reta. Hopefully I get the opposite effect here. But yeah I can definitely relate to that feeling and then trying to gag something down I have to like breathe in between bites and just swallow. Then deal with gagging and possible puking. Not a good feeling.

it's been so bad! I didn't have this at all my first 4 months on reta (other than an aversion to eggs and chicken, but i could still eat it, i just didn't enjoy it as much).

i'm about 4 days out from my last reta shot and it seems to be a bit better so far today, so i'm going to have to monitor how i feel daily. i've been okay with beverages so i've been adding milk to my coffees today just to get extra calories lol. i am such a foodie and love cooking and trying new things so this is such a new experience for me.

Bro. Understood. This has been the last few years for me. Weird thing. I tore my hamstring at work. Had a X-ray at the ER. A week later I get a letter telling me further discussion is warranted. Here they think I have ankylosing spondylitis. A form of arthritis. I have had back pain for 25 years. And bad hip pain for the last year. Here one of the symptoms is nausea. I have struggled with nausea for years wondering what the issue was. Bad nausea. Gag reflex with food and taking vitamins. Throw up a lot more than normal people should. Had genetic testing done. So we’ll see if it’s true.
