My father has start ozempic last month. 225$ for his first pen at 0.25mg per dose.

Just found an article for generic equivalent of ozempic in canada that could make official source a bit cheaper.

It takes awhile for the generics to actually hit the market, but this is really great news for your dad.

I'm not sure how it works in Canada, but here in the US, even when a drug patent expires, there is a whole conspiracy of rules and laws that protect big pharma profits. It really sucks for consumers, but I guess that's the price we pay for innovation.

Semaglutide's patent expired in India in March 2026, but the generic manufacturers were particularly geared up for production there. Not sure how long it will take in Canada.

Here is a listing on Indiamart for a generic sema. Seems like a reasonable amount.
