I have done some looking around on the forum and have not seen anything around organizing group buys, I assume this conversation is taking place on various Discords? If anyone does have a good group for group buys, I would love to join (I am based in Canada).

Beyond that, I am wondering how group buys work? To my knowledge would it be:

  • a group will buy a bunch of a certain peptide from a vendor at the same time (assuming that everyone gets the same batch)
  • Then a single user will send out vials for a Jano test
  • The cost of the test would be split amongst people in the group
  • The test results that come back would be the assumed purity for the entire batch that the group has bought?

Appreciate any insight!

Group buys in the peptide world are fake.

While early group buys were mostly legit and similar to the typical types of group buys that leverage the collective buying power of group of people to purchase a high enough volume of product to negotiate lower prices and favorable terms, the current manifestation of the term has been completely bastardized.

I have ran and participated in countless group buys for things like custom car parts, electronics, and all sorts of other accoutrements related to my various hobbies, and while the person responsible for organizing the buy occasionally received some minor benefit as compensation for their time and effort organizing everything, the concept has been manipulated into a completely for-profit business model.

Folks need to reprogram their brains to understand that anyone offering a "group buy" in the peptide space is offering a PROMOTION - a sale or special offer - definitely not a "group buy".

Peptide group buys have become an easy way for vendors to pretend that they're not vendors, and to get customers to front the money for their inventory, expenses, and ultimately PROFIT. They use this tactic to save the hassles of marketing, branding, labeling, or actually putting any of their own money at risk. It also allows them to shrug if the product doesn't meet expectations or guarantees and shift blame to anyone but themselves where legitimate vendors understand that making good on bad product is a necessary part of doing business.

While there are occasionally a few exceptions to this rule such as small groups of people getting together privately where nobody receives any extra benefit or compensation, they are not something you are ever going to see promoted or mentioned publicly. Pretty much any time there's more than a handful (maybe a dozen max) of people involved, or there is any kind of public efforts to recruit customers, it stops being a group buy and becomes a business.

The bottom line is, as far as this forum is concerned, I'm not inclined to permit group buys to be organized or promoted here. 99% of the time you'll be able to find a vendor offering close to the same (and sometimes better) price and terms all on your own, and for popular products it is not hard to get involved in group testing to share the expenses of verifying the quality of the products purchased.
