My wife wants to get it and being the newly minted grey "expert" i figured I'd look here to see if anyone has done it. I'm guessing you don't want to do it yourself since you can mess up your face, but if we were to find someone who does it for a living and provide the botox ourselves, that may be an option. Thoughts?

There are definitely groups where people DIY botox. But even if you got some botox the professionals might not want to use it. Apparently there is some venom serum that freezes your face similar to botox. That might be a better option for her to find in the beauty groups. Do your research about whichever option you go with, if any. I personally will never inject anything in my face so I have no experience to offer.

SYN-AKE 1 Gram Temple Viper Venom

I don't know if it's meant to be injected, but mentions mixing it into serums. I use SNAP 8 mixed into Neutrogena, to help with facial tension to help prevent tension headaches.

I bought some from SSA, back in the good ol' days when times were simpler (i.e. 6 months ago). It worked, and I didn't end up with botulism, or a droopy eye, or anything like that. But it did wear off kind of fast.

There are lots of videos out there that explain where to inject, how much, and what depth, as well as danger zones. Dr. Pearce is a good one on YouTube, and there are several others on Rumble.

I feel like such a baby just injecting some amino acid in my belly. This is hard core DIY! I bow to your fortitude.

Definitely not from the Chinese! Korean or bust for me. Get on some beauty servers to learn more, there are some knowledgeable people there.

I would love to hear more about your experience with Snap 8 and headaches. I get medical Botox for migraines but it's just not working like it used to.

I saw this a while back, not sure if its what you're referring to>

You asked, Specifically, I get Tension Headaches that are related from Muscle/ Skeletal issues. Two mild concussions, I have a very Arthritic Lumbar & Cervical, no surgies yet but it's coming. This is made worse, by the over active Trigger points I have from my lower back to the Opcipital muscles at C1. I've had 5 rounds of Trigger point injections (Cortisone, Anesthetic & Lidocaine) which work, but I keep getting more and they don't last as long. Several Ablations and Cortisone injections in lower back as well, haven't gotten to the neck yet. A chiropractor messed up my jaw 1.5 years ago (couldn't talk for 2 weeks) I have a referral for a Dentist that does Botox and a Neurologist. I'm gonna say I've done well over 100 rounds of Physical Therapy last 3 years, counting my knee replacements and back, neck, shoulders, tmj etc. Been to the ER, blah blah blah. I'm guessing you got the picture, this is going somewhere.

I read about the SNAP 8, GHK Copper and how to mix them together for facial serum. Well the SNAP 8 has the benefits of temporarily disabling the Neuro transmitters (kinda) like Botox. It honestly helps relax my Forehead and cheek muscles to keep from making a headache worse and preventing it. Don't go for a water based serum, it will be too water by the time you reconsitute it. I used 20mg SNAP 8 and 2ml bac water, you keep it refrigerated. https://unitingwellness.com/5-snap-8-beauty-protocol/ If your still awake, I'll reply again and tell you about how Ipamorlelin knocks out my headaches 80% of the time. Sounds far fetched, but if your on this forum you're looking for alternatives like me. I just hadn't talked about it yet.

Got some in my cart, I'm (almost) willing to try anything with these headaches. The SNAP 8 is decent, but if there is something better. Just found it the other day actually too.
I forgot that people get botox for migraines. Might be worth trying the syn-ake especially if you know the points they would inject botox at. From what I have seen, they say snap 8 is milder, more natural look, the the syn-ake stuff does much more of a freeze botox look so stronger. No personal experience but it is in a few of the beauty guides.

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. That's a lot to go through. I have some Snap 8 and copper that I was going to mix for anti-anging but I will definitely look more into the headache aspect, thank you! And I would love to hear about your experience with Ipamorelin. I'm always looking for ways to knock these headaches out.

I'm actually looking at this, to mix into some facial serum like Neutrogena to help relax the facial muscles. I use SNAP 8 now, which gets me through most of the work day. I have a decent chance of getting insurance to pay for Botox, should I pursue it. But strangely enough, I got a buddy who injects Botox for his wife's wrinkles and her friends.

i tox my face using korean botox that approved by the KFDA. im a pussy and its extremely easy to DIY, and i have never had issues. i love it, lasts about 5-6mos for me. i wouldnt buy tox from china tbh.
theres a lot of great tutorials out there for beginners.

Thank you, appreciate it 🙂 I am going to try this Syn Ake as well, I can follow up on that later.

Anyways on the headache. I started at a Compound pharmacy and then whilst into other peptides found a Longevity Dr. via telehealth, who prescribes peptides (go figure) anyways he had pushed me to workout etc and I had bought a vial of CJC-1295 no dac with Ipamorelin mixed 10mg of each. He mentioned that it helps some of his patients headaches and doesn't know how, it just does. (Meh ok)

11months later, I'm still not working out and I'm on a 9 day bender with a headache. I run across a thread on Reddit, somebody had found that Ipamorelin helps there headaches. HUH?! I thawed that F$$^%R out and reconstituted it and did a shot before bed, 200mcg total 100 of each. You have to do it on an empty stomach before bed, or wait 30 minutes after eating. Woke up, it was 90% gone and held through most of work day. Next 10 weeks were virtually headache free, no BS for realzzeezzz. The drawback is you can't stay on indefinitely, 5 days on 2 off like some peptides we already take.

I found the Ipamorelin by itself works pretty well, I've gone up to 500mcg on a daily dose but didn't always find it helped that much more. Seems to last me 16 hours of the day, before it starts wearing off. The CJC-1295 no dac with Ipamorelin, does work a bit better and helps me with sleep a little bit and I dose less of it 2-300mcg. Now the gooder part is Tesamorelin and Sermorelin, fall into this area as well. The Sermorelin was weak and didn't hold for me, so I'll probably skip it going forward. The Tesamorelin was decent, but the water gain from it, is noticeable but no headache and it costs more. So Ipamorelin, seems to be the sweet spot for me. I got 150mg of that in my freezer, weak sauce on this board but I'm still a noob. I use for the work week and suffer on the weekends sometimes. I really has made life better, I try not to go crazy with it. The other thing is I can't take Nsaids, as I've had weight loss surgery it can give me an ulcer. I take Pentosan Polysulfate Sodium for Arthritis, which does help but always have to go off for blood work and my 2nd (in 2 weeks) of 3 surgeries planned this year.

Sorry, I'm a talker. But all this is true, since you're already on this board. Do your research give it a whirl, if you do please follow up. I'd like to hear it helped somebody out with their headaches.

Exactly.

@john_askins The videos from Dr. Tim Pearce are fantastic for learning. I kind of doubt any other injector would agree to using a product they haven't safely procured themselves for safety/liability reasons, however, there are plenty of people doing their own (and their spouses). As with all things, one needs to invest the time learning: facial muscle anatomy, techniques, depths, volume, no-go zones etc. As well as of course, sourcing a safe, commonly-used product (Korea or Japan, approved by their FDA)

Thank you for this! I'm gonna dig deeper into all this. I don't know why it never occurred to me to look into peptides for these stupid headaches.

Gray market Chinese botox is best avoided. It cannot be 3rd party tested- Jano refuses- and it is extremely expensive compared to Korean tox, which is regulated by their version of the fda.

Importing has become much more difficult, as customs and the FDA are actively targeting it. Join one of the larger and older beauty servers, which tend to have more education, and/or watch for a holiday sale at places like Estaderma, which tend to be 35% - 45% off. They will guarantee reshipping.

Do not attempt to order it during summer, though. It should be kept cold, so most diy'ers order it during winter.

It is not Illegal to inject yourself. However education is key. Dr. Tim Pearce - name checked above- offers courses on tox and anatomy, and lots of members of our beauty communities take accredited coursework to more safely pursue their own treatment.

You can also definitely watch for local specials by med spas. I see botox offered for $10 a unit on sale. For context, a light forehead treatment might take 12 to 15 units, whereas masseter treatment- for teeth grinding- could run into the thousands as it takes a lot more tox and specialized placement. A misstep there could cause difficulty closing your mouth for a few weeks to months.

Like everything else in this world, it comes down to personal risk aversion and harm reduction. ❤️

If anyone is continuing to research DIY options, below should be considered. The risk is more than waiting out a wrong muscle being paralyzed.

Botox is made from the bacterium that give you botulism. Botulism attacks your nerves… which works when it’s controlled like Botox but If it’s bad product it’s a bad situation.

“This toxin attacks the nervous system, leading to symptoms such as muscle paralysis, difficulty breathing, and potentially death if not treated promptly.”

So this isn’t a “end up in the ER and get some Zofran” (anti-nausea) meds, it’s a “could kill you” branch of risk.

We already decided we weren't going to be doing it ourselves. Just going to save up some money to have it done professionally! Thanks for this.

Please get a professional to do any Botox injections. Make sure whoever you choose is experienced.

You want them to give you a full consultation at the first appointment to get to know you and not inject at the first appointment. Ideally it's a free consult but every market is different.

Look over their before and after photos and look for consistency since some people fake theirs. Also, look at your injector's face and the staff's faces. It's not a perfect comparison because everyone has a preferred aesthetic, but it can give you an idea of how conservative or aggressive their treatment approach is.

Have them go over the risks and alternatives with you in depth, if they brush you off then they're not for you. Ask them about any protocols for adverse events. If they say that they've never had one, then they're lying or haven't been doing it long enough.

If they're prices are super low, if they ask for tips after service, if they offer Groupons, those are all red flags.

If she's getting fillers in the eye area, there is a low but non zero risk of having a retinal vascular occlusion (akin to a stroke in the eye). There are plenty of people who get them with no issue but if she's considering it, PLEASE make sure they are experienced.
