This article about David Bars in the NYT to day https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/27/business/david-protein-bars.html
got me thinking about how since starting a GLP1 in May, I've lost any desire for protein bars. Pre GLP1 I would supplement with 1 daily, or almost daily. Now I only grab one when I'm out and about and realize I've gone way too long without eating and might be veering into hypoglycemia. Perhaps its because bars compensate with lots of sweeteners and I'm less interested in sweets but for a bit or two or that now they feel like a rock in my stomach, however more and more, if I can't get enough protein from whole foods (most days) I'm looking for a protein drink...the "lighter" the better so there is still "room" for real foods. I'm interested if others are having the same experience and if so what their "go to" protein supplements are?

FWIW I used to drink a lot of the Fairlife shakes but price and all the micro plastic stuff scared me away. Now i'm muddling through with Isopure and a concoction I make with Collagen and Aminos that hopefully turn it into a complete protein...and tastes like sour candy.

I make my own sometimes I use Isolate whey protein, also have some Fairlife shakes and when in sale on Amazon I buy premier shakes. I don't like protein bars either.

I used to eat 2-3 protein bars a day, I loved them! they were like a little guilt free desert treat, but since being on reta they give me the ick, they just taste over-processed and chemically. I naturally opt for real food now when possible

Exactly. Most feel too heavy and artificial now. I also feel ok just having a bite or v. small serving of dessert if I need a treat.

In general, dense foods don't really hold a ton of appeal. Vegetables and fruit are my favorites. Meat less so which is why I need the protein drinks.

When I started Terz, I switched to a horrifically expensive high protein meal replacement, Kachava. I hate the advertising for it, but all the other shakes and powders taste awful! Blends well with a frozen banana or blueberries and 5g of fiber. Keeps me nutriated, hydrated and regular, and I can still suck down 300cal when I know I need to eat, but don't really want to.
