Just checking in and introducing myself.

My wife and I are in our early 40's and have been up and down with our weight for the better part of 20 yrs. We never have a problem losing a godd 30-40lbs, but after a while we veer off of our strict diet and calorie counting and find ourselves returning to our old habits.

I love to cook. It brings me joy. I'm always trying new dishes and new ingredients and altering old recipes to make them better and better. Of course, that often means more fats and sugars - which don't go well with a diet. And if there's one thing I love more than cooking delicious food, it's eating it!

So, we decided to seek some help from GLP-1's, specifically semaglutide, starting about a week ago. With one week under our belts, we've been amazed at the appetite suppression and look forward to the journey of losing weight without some of the struggle we've had in the past.

This forum seems like a wealth of information to help us on that journey, and we appreciate the guidance and experience of those who came before us.

Welcome! I love to cook too so I feel you on that 😂 now that I’m on tirz I can still enjoy cooking while having control over how much I eat. Glad that you and your wife are seeing results so far on sema. Good luck on your journey!

Good luck to you and your wife! I think you made a great decision to start these shots. Enjoy that early hunger suppression you are feeling and roll with it while you feel it this strongly.

Also, because you mentioned fats and sugar, I thought I might be able to add a unique perspective about removing foods from your diet. I get quite a bit of sugar/carbs in my diet while maintaining a 220lb loss. Lots of fruit bowls, potatoes, oatmeal, pretzels, rice cakes, and a fair bit of low calorie, low fat protein sources. I do limit fat most days, but will still have 5 or so days a month where I get a good amount of that in as well.

I say this just because I had been fixated on cutting carbs and sugar while failing diet after diet over a 10 year period. Keto controls hunger like no other diet I've tried, but I just love the carb loaded food I mentioned earlier way too much to be able to eliminate it for long.

So this time, while starting Tirz, I decided I wanted to try something that I might be able to stick with long term. It has paid off. I ditched the scale, ate food that I loved in an amount that I also knew would produce consistent fat loss, and settled in for the long haul.

With that said, I don't think my diet was superior to any other method that works for people in here. It's just what worked for me. Hopefully, you can find what works for you, long-term, too.
