Liam Here, my doctor recently told me that I'm pre-diabetic and have high blood pressure. He said that if he checked my blood sugar right there it would be in the "pre-diabetic range". So I'm not really surprised to hear it from him.

I am definitely ready for some lifestyle changes. I've been experiencing fatigue and shortness of breath during even simple tasks since around Thanksgiving - the doctor suggested that was due to the high blood pressure.

My main stress eating habit is eating out at lunchtime, because my job is so sedentary that going out for lunch is one of the few times I actually get up and move around during the day. So I can see where a lot of this has come about.

I'm ready to do it right for once, though. I'd like to hear some suggestions on what kinds of things would be good for me as a beginner (as opposed to someone who's been working out for years) - exercise routines that I could start with now and gradually work my way up over time? Meal ideas and recipes?

I know this is all pretty basic, but if anyone has any advice they'd be willing to share it would really help me a lot. Thank you! 🙂

I'd start with packing a lunch, high protein (boiled eggs, salads, wraps) and taking a walk at lunch. There's a ton of low fat, higher protein healthy meal ideas on every social media platform. You'll probably not find a lot of specific recipes here (although I've seen some videos on you tube where providers tell you what to eat and what not...). As a non-exercise lover myself, I started really small. Literally parked farther away. Increased my steps doing household chores and projects. Decided, as I lost weight and felt better, to tackle cleaning out the basement, and the garage (multi-day workouts). Getting in a short walk at lunch. Walking the dog. Quick stretches in the morning. Nothing big, just small steps towards being more active.

Welcome, and congrats on being ready for lifestyle changes! You can do it, and we're here to try to help.
