I hadn't really taken filtering seriously.... but I keep seeing posts popping up alongside the endotoxin discussions. My understanding is that endotoxins wouldn't be filtered out but only bacteria. Does the Bac water not work to kill some of that bacteria too??

I kind of enjoy filtering as part of the process and it was a step that was included when I first learned of reconstituting my own peptides.

Even though it doesn't get rid of endotoxins, filters really aren't that expensive. I figure I might as well try and remove as many foreign substances as possible to lessen my chances of getting sick. Same reason I swab my skin with alcohol before pins. I would probably be alright if I didn't but why take the chance when those little pads are a couple cents a piece.

There was a great post about filtering—from a nurse I believe—who was talking about microscopic inorganic compounds in our lypholized vials that can enter the body and cause all sorts of complications. There may be lil teeny bits of rubber or metal from vial production in addition to bacteria and other microorganisms—filtering takes care of all of this.

@BNLFL turned me on to Biologix, who makes sterile 13mm PES 0.22 micron filters about $50 USD for 100. Don’t get non-sterile filters; it defeats the point and is a waste of money. Biologix shipped fast, and they’re a well-respected brand. (I’ve used their lab culture media when I was in college, and just ordered some to run my own sterility experiments.) All that peace of mind for $0.50!

Filters do nothing for endotoxins unless you get positively charged filters which trap gram negative bacteria endos, but everything I’ve learned so far indicates they may ruin your peptide as well if the peptide solution itself is negatively charged.

It’s SO easy to do and quick! Like less than 2 minutes. You can pre-wet the filter with BAC and then after either flush with air or BAC to get the most out of your peptides. I’ve only air flushed so far as I’m still refining my supply and work flow, but have found based on volume that I’m not losing much trapped in the filter.

Plus it gives you the mad scientist feels!

I filter everytime! The way I look at it, while the chances of something happening are slim, they're still high enough to overcome the cost of the filters and the time involved in using them.

I have not filtered my peptides yet.
It's not the safest way of thinking but you inject in fatty tissue and not direct in a bloodvessel so I think it's an acceptable risk.
When you have a wound on your skin bacteria can also infect it. If you have a normal working immunesystem it will take care of the skin infection.
I believe my body will take care of the tiny amount of bacteria that can be present in the peptides I use.
And little pieces of rubber can get stuck in the fatty tissue yes.
I went to the exhibition 'Bodies' in Amsterdam and you could see all the stuff that got stuck in the lungs. Tiny specles from dust particles / smog / smoke / anything you inhale through your nose your whole life. So I'm not really bothered with injecting a clear fluid subcutaneous.

So no, I don't filter from 'trusted' sources.
Do you want to be as safe as possible and have peace of mind? Do filter everything.

Oh lord I don’t even wanna know what my lungs look like! Between starting smoking at 13, construction without wearing masks, living in NYC…eeesh!

Girl, you sound Ike a good time! Next time i visit NL we should party! Or when you come to the US to stock up on Novo pens! 😎

i do anytime i transfer the pep. so my pen carts, or even my nasals. at an extra 50cents a pop they really arent worth skipping just to ad that little bit extra security. plus as someone els said i kinda like doin git.. makes me feel even MORE sciencey lol

I've only recently started filtering, and I always feel like I'm a crazy scientist.

I’m not lying, and you’re not wrong 😕 I grew up in the 90s when smoking still was badass and cool, plus I loved/love classic film where everyone smokes and looks so glamorous. (I quit in 2018 but still vape and gotta kick that.) And my dad is a big home repair guy/landlord who wasn’t big on safety so at 8 I was helping him paint and throughout my 20s we did lots of drywall sanding, plaster wall repair/sanding in old buildings—rife with lead paint. I think knowing how much I’ve shat upon my body is one of the reasons I’m quite cautious now!

I always filter. What everyone says about bacteria is true and motivational, but I also like being in control of the concentration. As my dosage has increased, I prefer to keep my pins at or below 50 units.
