I hear ALL the time about the theory of people’s receptors being flooded with Tirzepitide and then the medication becomes ineffective, or largely so. I haven’t seen the research yet, but this is a drumbeat in the background of many conversations. The experience in our house, one old mom and 30 year old daughter is the opposite. After almost a year we are needing to back down, down, down. I skirt food aversion constantly. I was at 12mg at the height, but am 6.5 mg now. I was so sick of eating! Most foods taste terrible, which is HILARIOUS! In my case, I kept a steady blood level for the last five months, where ever I tried to be. Using ‘Shotsy’, I would sometimes dose every other day, trying to stay steady. in daughter’s case, as an active Elementary teacher, On-The-Go, Em would typically have a Protein shake in the morning, a Protein Bar at lunch and then a full dinner of good protein, veggies and a bit of dessert. Although she wasn’t keeping a steady blood level, she too has experienced the food aversion, difficulty eating, food tasting ‘funny”. Just…struggling to eat. Em was only at 2.5, has lost about 40 pounds. It’s been a month since a dose and appetite is still clobbered. I have lost 60+, have another 30+ or not……Has anyone else experienced this??????????? Thanks.

I think the results people get with these drugs depend on biology (like having diabetes vs not: diabetics lose weight quite a bit slower than non diabetics) but also on many other factors that folks don't account for: exercise level, diet, protein intake, etc. These drugs can be a very helpful tool but in my experience, other lifestyle changes can do wonders when combined with them ("all the things" as Tyna Moore calls them). I have found that I can do well on low doses of these drugs and still get pretty good weight loss.
Also having other comorbidities outside of DM like PCOS, thyroid issues, taking other meds (for example the SGLT-2 inhibitors in DM), etc can modulate one's results with these drugs.

I agree, thanks. I think by dropping this here, if any other folks have this experience they will be able to add their experience. I have been afraid for a year of ‘flooding the receptors’ and instead, it seems to have worked otherwise. Life is a mystery.
