Hi all,
I'm a lifer from the PNW that has been planted in Texas for the past two years. I envy all that love the Texas life style as the DEEP DEEP DEEP south Texas is just not what I signed up for 😞
With not much to do down here I figured I would research weight lost and stumbled across GLP-1 and I am in love!!!
I’ve lost about 30 pounds over the course of the last 6 months on Sem, but with the daily tummy sickness I have switched to the big T. Thank goodness the daily up chuck has completely disappeared.
Anyways enough about myself as I am here to learn from all of you.
Best of luck to you all and your journey.

One kind of south:

Well, bless your heart! It's just as good as grits and gravy to have you here.

Welcome, darlin'!

But where you are:

Bienvenido 🌮 🌯

Hi and welcome. I’m new here too. I can totally relate. I’m in New Mexico and I miss my home so
much (northern Cali) I felt much better after I switched to T too!

The Santa Fe area seems nice though, like Scottsdale or Sedona in my state. Nice but expensive.

I spent a relatively short time in southern Texas about 30 years ago courtesy of the USAF, and I had forgotten what the summer was like. Finally went back on a business trip to Austin recently, and I swear that as soon as I arrived I could smell Texas. Yes, it does smell unique 🙂. Or at least southern Texas does. Instantly brought me back 30 years.

When I was able to, I returned to the PNW and I'm not sure I can ever leave again. I think I'm too much of a wimp to live somewhere with real heat or humidity again 🙂.

Anyway, welcome, and best of luck to you on your journey! I'm a newbie here too but I've learned quite a lot in a short time. Just perusing the posts yields a lot of good info.

Ok, I can't quote all of you, lol.....however, I FEEL YOUR PAIN if you are in Texas! I was born in Illinois near Chicago and moved here when I was 12. All you have to do is live here for a while and you will appreciate the much shorter "summer" in other states. Although it gets hot everywhere at some point and sometimes for day on end, it is not like here where we have no idea when summer will truly end.
I've always had a hard time with the heat, even when I was a kid in Illinois. Heat migraines would take me out and send me home throwing up after PE or recess. I envy everyone I pass on the street jogging or biking in this heat! I just know my limits and migraines are no fun. I avoid them at all costs. Even my yard summers after the middle of May....😕🥵
I have pulled out my 15yr old "like new" Total Gym and did my first workout on it yesterday in the A/C with 2 fans on me! Today I can barely move....😂

Shug that’s not the south- that’s northern Mexico!
Kidding. But McAllen does have its own flavor - just not very southern. Trust me, you’d rather be there than here- I’m in Houston, where you need gills to survive 100% humidity when it’s not raining. I worked in Mission for a while (near McAllen) and loved it. But then, I’m from gulf coast Texas, not the PNW. I’m sure it was a big culture shock!
Welcome to the forum. ☺️

But Austin is Central Texas… not south! Were you at the base near San Antonio? It’s not far from Austin but has to very different vibe.

That's fair, I'm not familiar enough with Texas geography to know the regions 🙂. At the scale of Texas, in my mind Austin is just up the road from San Antonio. In any case, the distinguishing factor for me is humidity -- and Austin is humid like San Antonio. I assume (with nothing to back it up) that this is what gives the area a distinctive aroma. Probably the soil, too, no doubt -- I've lived other hot/humid places, but something is distinctive to me about Texas.

To your question -- yes, I was at Lackland AFB for training, on the south west side of San Antonio.

You know it’s funny to me- I loved central Texas because it’s about 60% humidity- you call that humid, but here in Houston we have 100% humidity days without rain. My pediatrician told my mother that kids raised here have gills instead of lungs. Then Dallas has even less humidity- in college I showed Dairy Cattle at the state fair- and I learned to carry a handkerchief because the air was so dry I would get spontaneous nosebleeds- and to show Dairy Cattle you wear all white. I haven’t lived many other places but different parts of Texas, but it always amazes me how different it is from one place to another!

Yeehaw girl! Welcome to the DEEP DEEP DEEP South! Where in Texas are you staying? I'm from Dallas myself.
