Indirect Calorimetry: Is it worthwhile to get tested?

I had an appointment with a dietitian that my prescribing endocrinologist scheduled. I hated her. I told her that I was concerned that I was losing muscle as measured by my Renpho smart scale. All she did was give me samples of two products made by Abbott that contain HMB and advised me to take HMB. We did not discuss how much I should eat. We did not discuss protein. We did not discuss fiber. (Although she did not know this, I had received some decent during my one appointment with a dietitian at Mochi Health.) She scheduled then next appointment for early May. During that time, I will undergo indirect calorimetry, a method of determining my metabolism. Is there any use to going to that appointment? Or should I cancel? The test itself won't cost me anything other than time.
 
I did the version where I breathed into a face mask for 10-15 minutes while resting in a lounge chair. Very grueling test! It provides your actual resting metabolic rate, which may or may not be useful to you. I found it very interesting data, and I had to pay $130 for it. It won't tell you anything about your muscle mass. I'd highly recommend you find a place that offers Dexascans, which will tell you exactly how much muscle and fat there is on you body. It will be far more accurate than any smart scale.
