Hi all! I'm Kitty. I'm in my mid-30s and I've been on Mounjaro 15mg for quite a while now (maybe a year?), and my insurance is taking away coverage after July 15th.
I previously lost around 85 pounds through a very strict weight loss program and qsymia (306 -> 220 lbs), but ultimately the topiramate in the medication was giving me brain fog and memory issues so I switched to just phentermine but almost immediately started gaining weight back. My doctor then put me on Mounjaro and it has been amazing, plus I lost an additional 25 lbs. I'm down to 195ish now, which is where I've stayed for probably at least 3 or 4 months. With the insurance coverage going away, I'm so worried about what is going to happen. I depend on this medication not just for weight maintenance, but it also helps my energy levels and pain from inflammation. 😭 I discovered the grey market talk on tiktok and have finally begun doing some actual research, which is why I'm here. I also think there are many people losing coverage soon and who are in the same boat as me..
Now I'm looking into how I can continue on tirzepatide or maybe try something else, because who has $500-$1000 a month just lying around? Not me! I've also been hearing about Retatrutide lately, but I haven't researched enough to know fully what the difference is between that and tirz. Down the rabbit hole I go~
Nice to meet you! Looking forward to learning.
